Wondering how much of this information is directly taken from the May 2012 History Channel mini-sereis, "Hatfields & McCoys?" Seems as though more factual proof would be necessary through obtaining actual articles and historical elements, rather than something based on a television series. Most of the article seems directly related to the mini-series, which would be unfair to those unfamiliar to the story in general. While the mini-series was excellent, it is still considered "written for television." Twilly41 (talk) 14:41, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- Can you give some examples, could it be the movie was factual? In the movie I found some errors.
He hind in the hog house before running in to the wood. His wife did not walk out the front door with guns, she went to aid her shot child. But this article does not talk about the hog house, but does note Sally helping her child, article does support the movie as you claim. Have you read the ref. list, I read a few historical articles and found no factual problems in the article ? There is no use making claims, if you have no example. Open ended birth/deah info for children edit
I assume it is like that because it is unknown when they died, but leaving it with no year for the death is more common for people who are still alive. And since none of these people borning in the mid 1800s is still alive, shouldn't they be replaced with a ? or some other notation?74.67.106.1 (talk) 00:52, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Do we know if they were of Scottish descent for certain? McCoy is a commonly occurring surname in both Ireland and Scotland, and has a dual origin.Jonathan f1 (talk) 06:28, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
