What is raksi made from? edit

When I was in Nepal in the Mahendra era, I believe it was illegal to make spirits from grain. Instead the legal distilleries scattered around the countryside may have made raksi from dried berries.

Homemade spirits were illegally made from grain and I believe that was called "daru" "double daru" was distilled twice and tasted like vodka.

Raksi was sold unaged, often still warm from the still and was often consumed there. It tasted like sake and produced serious hangovers. LADave (talk) 21:55, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
