clarity and definitions

At no point does this article explain what a "rail express" agency does. Who is "expressing" what?

I so second this point. This article says, "rail express service" but what is that?!? What is an "express service"? Elsewhere in Wikipedia it states that American Express was the result of consolidation of several express services, and links to Express mail which has nothing to do with ninteenth century express services. Southern vs Southeastern?

This article mentions four major companies, one of which being the Southern Express Company. However, the Federal Reporter from says that the Southeastern Express Company began operating in 1921, formed by the Southern Railway Company and the Mobile & Ohio Railroad Company (see here). The Southeastern Express Company is also mentioned in this court filing by the National Railroad Adjustment Board and in this Circuit Court decision from 1932.
