Talk:Rail transport in Myanmar

Merger proposal edit

I propose merging Myanmar Railways into Rail transport in Myanmar. These two subjects that have a large overlap, and there seems to be very little difference in scope. The history portion is covered in detail at History of rail transport in Myanmar. The Rail transport in Myanmar article was created on 18 November 2008‎ by RegentsPark. Four dayss later on 22 November 2008, the Myanmar Railways article was created‎, also by RegentsPark. They both seem to discuss the rail network run by Myanmar Railways. Rail transport in Myanmar seems to be the slightly broader title, even though Myanmar Railways in the longer article. There does not appear to be sufficient material for two articles, even were an adequate scope differential to be provided. --Bejnar (talk) 22:56, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Sure. I created two articles because Myanmar Railways is about the organization while the rail transport article was meant to be broader with, mainly, the historical stuff figuring there. However, it looks like Myanmar railways is becoming the dominant one. I suggest, however, that the article be at Rail transport in Myanmar. Might need a bit of restructuring but, yes, good idea. --regentspark (comment) 23:03, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
@RegentsPark: Might you be in a position to do this, given that you have the relevant expertise and are familiar with these articles? Klbrain (talk) 10:51, 7 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'll give it a shot later this month. --regentspark (comment) 00:41, 8 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Rail transport in Myanmar edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Rail transport in Myanmar's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 15:22, 21 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
