MAS 452??

edit

Not only the caption on the infobox should be corrected, but also the file's name. What the pic actually shows is one of the smaller MT explosive motorboats (MTMs) that attempted to broke into the Grand Harbour that night, and not MAS 452.--Darius (talk) 22:52, 19 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Title

edit

It isn't really a battle, perhaps 'Attack on Grand Harbour' would be better? Keith-264 (talk) 19:32, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tried 'Raid on...' to go with the Raid on Alexandria (1941). Expanded and revised somewhat, think it relied too much on one source but it's Italian which redresses the Anglocentric bias that is hard to avoid in other articles. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 10:43, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oops, Caruana is Maltese not Italian, sorry mate. Keith-264 (talk) 06:37, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just seen, when I created this article I dabbled on what it should be called. Thanks for the input - also User:RovingPersonalityConstruct added content from Caruana as one source. Eastfarthingan (talk) 11:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, the meat of the article was already here so the rest has been easy. I want to use Caruna for more detail on the MTM etc once I have the time. How are you keeping? Regards Keith-264 (talk) 16:42, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, definitely the most concentrated of information so far. I'm very good thanks, hope you're keeping well?? Eastfarthingan (talk) 21:05, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Surprisingly well, since I got sacked last month. ;O) Keith-264 (talk) 07:58, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh! 🤞 you get something else. Eastfarthingan (talk) 12:04, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
We're getting by on our pensions so I'm able to be choosy. ;O) Keith-264 (talk) 12:48, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

To avoid the background getting too big, I'll probably cut the origins of the Decima MAS paragraph and concentrate on the second paragraph and one on equipment, then use it as a generic background for Souda and Alexandria. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 20:51, 3 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Use of quotes

edit

Hi. I noticed this article uses a lot of long quotes, and I'm wondering if that's the best way to share this information? I worry about copyright when we're using so many quotes from a few books. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 16:30, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@SomeoneDreaming: I'm not sure about it either but the source relies on them. I think that I've unbalanced the article yet I took a lot out before I pasted that section in. I think that a lot more of it has to go. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 19:31, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Diannaa: As per the discussion above, I was going to scrap that section because the narrative in Cull et al. uses quotations from primary sources with linking passages and it didn't seem t[r]ight to paraphrase quotations. Sadly, as I was going to bed that night, water started dripping through the ceiling and after turning off the stopcock, I spent yesterday sorting things out rather than removing the passage. There has been a copy-vio panic in the meantime which I have resolved. Regards. Keith-264 (talk) 07:42, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to hear about your water leaks! Thanks for taking care of this. — Diannaa (talk) 13:10, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Diannaa: I think it's all right now but the ceiling in the stair well has a bit of a bow in it. ;O) Regards Keith-264 (talk) 08:29, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I've been tidying the article but probably missed a few infelicities. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 11:42, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

The Background is available for other Decima MAS articles when they're written. Keith-264 (talk) 11:43, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good stuff, excellent details from Background to prelude. Well done. Eastfarthingan (talk) 20:40, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much. ;O) Keith-264 (talk) 21:38, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
