References a bit excessive edit

The references are quite repetitive in this article; when I started editing it, there were only two sources (a NYT article and one from NAP) which were cited for every sentence. I understand the need for proper references, but this seems excessive. [ibid] is disfavored as per current Wiki guidelines, any idea how to do this properly? I added some more sources, but even then, text like "sentence[1] sentence[4] sentence[2]" looks silly & isn't easy to read, either. pi~ (talk) 20:00, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
