Article makes him look good

edit

As somebody related to Calderón, I get the feeling this article was written by somebody related to Calderón. I studied him back before the internet was particularly useful, and this article makes him look very good compared to the books I read back then. I remember accusations that Picado was a puppet president, and for some reason I recall him doing several nasty things during his time as legitimate president (although I don't remember the attacks on Germans). Long story short, I think there should be more explication of his and Picado's presidencies. Maybe my sources from long ago were biased, but there needs to be more.49giantsharks (talk) 03:46, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

War of 48

edit

The result of the elections of 48 were contested. It was a tense time. Ballots were burned, documents and census were claimed to be forged and then war erupted. Even though some may think or be sure that Ulate won the original election it can't be resolved accurately who won the election nowdays: it is a matter of speculation and people (still living people) from both sides would sustain that either candidate actually won (I know this from first had experience with my grandparents, in laws, and others from those times). See http://www.elespiritudel48.org/4802.htm as per example, or http://www.museocostarica.go.cr/es_cr/en-detalle/la-guerra-civil-de-1948-una-s-ntesis.html?Itemid=115 , etc. You will find, NPOV, that the election results were contested and then there was war... --Crio de la Paz (talk) 04:29, 28 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article is incredibly biased - essentially propaganda.

edit

The article just assumes that all President Calderon's policies were correct - that increasing government spending, taxation and regulations has only good effects (no bad ones). It reads more like a propaganda piece than a balanced reference article with arguments for and against the policies of this historical figure.2A02:C7F:96F6:5300:4DA1:ED7E:3FA3:2D1C (talk) 09:02, 26 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
