Notable people section

edit

I removed Earl Wolf from this section because he does not have a Wikipedia article, which is required to establish notability. I listed his information below in the event an editor creates a page for him: "Earl Wolf Safety, North Carolina State University" Thanks!--Fraulein451 (talk) 18:21, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the Thackers. Yeah, there used to be something at the town's airport that they owned. And gee, they might just be "good people". The are not, however, a significant enough part of the town's history to merit mention here. How do we know? We draw the line based on whether or not there is an article about them on Wikipedia. If you feel they are notable, establish an article on them. If the article survives (good luck with that!), they can be added to this article. Thanks. - SummerPhD (talk) 02:32, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Despite our guidelines and requests to discuss the issue, the IP has added the names again. I'm letting them stand for a couple of days before removing them again. I've requested that the other editor discuss the issue here. - SummerPhD (talk) 12:42, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

The Thackers still run PK Airpark. In fact The Golden Knights jumped at Gene Paul's celebration of life. Gene Paul had a heart of gold. He contributed to skydiving. He was eventually selected to be in The Skydiving Museum's Hall of Fame two years before he died. Please leave these articles be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.249.22.222 (talk) 19:55, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

The Thackers, Golden Knights and Gene Paul have one thing in common: They are not notable. We do not include people on lists based on them having "a heart of gold". As I explained to you, we have a guideline that explains this. If you have a policy or guideline based reason for ignoring that guideline is these articles, please explain. Otherwise, I will be removing them again. - SummerPhD (talk) 23:47, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I ignored the policy because Gene Paul, his family, many The Golden Knights are notable people, Same things with adding the Friersons and Woody. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.249.22.222 (talk) 05:01, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

You are saying things that don't make sense. The policy is that we only add notable peopleb you say you're ignoring that because they are notable. (If they are notable, you aren't ignoring the policy.) You say they are notable, but there is absolutely no indication they are notable. (If they are notable, create articles for them then add them here.).
Demonstrate that they are notable or provide a policy/guideline based reason to ignore the general consensus or I will remove them again. - SummerPhD (talk) 14:28, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've removed them. The IP is currently under a block for disruption and has a sock case. I wouldn't be surprised if this issue came up again. We will still need evidence that the people in question are notable or a policy/guideline-based reason to ignore that general consensus. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:54, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
