There was a generation of news readers before Dougal Stevenson eg: Bill Toft,Peter Fry,Philip Sherry(who appeared later as first TV3 frontman). These newsreaders all appeared under the NZBC banner in mid to late 60s.

Assessment

In my opinion, the article isn't far off good article status. Items to work on:

• Some paragraphs are unreferenced.
• Manual of Style issues for percentages and numbers.
• Some bare URLs.
