This is a merged radical. Originally there were two radicals: 月 (moon) and 肉 (flesh), the strokes of the latter were smoothened so they both became 月. That's why so many body parts have this radical because they have something to do with flesh. --2.245.69.179 (talk) 02:54, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
