Concerns about full protection escalation.
editHi Bearcat. I am concerned that article was upgraded from semi-protection to full-protection on the same day after only one edit. While this edit was clearly outside of Wikipedia article standards, Floquirion is a new editor, and is probably inexperienced with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I think it would be better to begin a talk page discussion to discuss content issues before escalating protection levels.
I will note I arrived here randomly, and do not have any specific edits that I was currently planning to make (I've never heard of the subject of this article before reading this article). However, I think at the very least, it should be downgraded to extended confirmed protection, as per our protection policy this is supposed to be the next level of protection after semi-protection. eπi (talk | contribs) 23:08, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- Actually, extended confirmed isn't the immediate next step after autoconfirmed — it's a rarefied level of protection that can be used only if there's a long-term pattern of autoconfirmed failing to control editing problems, not a step that can be jumped to immediately. The protection wasn't indefinite, but was applied for just long enough to give the conflict of interest noticeboard time to look into the issue I raised there — but extended confirmed isn't so much "the next step after autoconfirmed" as it is "the nuclear option step, applicable only if all other options have failed". Bearcat (talk) 23:13, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Bearcat: The link to the COIN discussion clarifies some details. I think it might have been better if it was linked on this talk page to begin with, since it strongly pertains to this article's development. But it's understandable if this was missed, because it's not monumentally important, and it's also a matter of discretion where to post.
- I disagree with your characterization of extended-confirmed protection. It is true extended-confirmed was originally created to handle a specific arbitration case, but it has evolved to broader use since then. Wikipedia:Protection policy currently reads
Where semi-protection has proven to be ineffective, administrators may use extended confirmed protection to combat disruption (such as vandalism, abusive sockpuppetry, edit wars, etc.) on any topic.
Reviewing the EP logs, one will see many cases of temporary protections. Even with the COIN discussion, it still seems EP may be better, but I guess it's a matter of philosophical differences. - But I can respect these differences; my earliest editing was 2015, and I definitely lack the experience to have complete confidence in my opinions regarding the handling of user behavior (though I feel POV editing requires additional careful article communication consideration in addition to the normal behavioral considerations). Ultimately, the article is only protected for five days, the protection is completely allowed by policy, and I am not personally hindered by this protection. I do not regret expressing concerns, but I will wish you well on your Wikipedia editing. eπi (talk | contribs) 01:41, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- I agree admin only protection is not the way to go. However Bearcat reversed that and I have chopped the article down. The "newbie" user mentioned above is likely the article subject, based on image that was in the article (see File:Rad_Hourani_Self_portrait_wiki.jpg) .ThatMontrealIP (talk) 15:10, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

I have done many research on Rad hourani, his title is "interdisciplinary artist", he refuse to be called "fashion designer", he mentioned it in many interviews, he also explain how he use the medium of costume/ clothing to express a point on gender for unisex collections. There's also no place on his social media or web that it mentions "fashion designer", his title is always "interdisciplinary artist". It is wrong to impose a title on someone that he mention publicly that he refuse to be called by it.

- Hello! I left a note on your talk page about your username, which is not allowed. Regarding the request, if I look at these sources, he is very frequently called a fashion designer. Wikipedia relies on independent reporting to determine article content:
- "Rad Hourani became the first fashion designer to be admitted to the La Chambre Syndicale de La Haute Couture for unisex clothing."
- "In just a few short years, Hourani established himself designer of unisex clothing"
- "this show is happening,” said the Paris-based designer Rad Hourani,"
- As the lede section calls him a fashion designer and artist, it sounds pretty accurate as it is.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:27, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, Wikipedia is only concerned with how independent sources describe him. 331dot (talk) 17:22, 16 May 2019 (UTC)

Rad Hourani is recognized as a pioneer visionary in the cultural landscape with a career spanning nearly 20 years. Rad is an interdisciplinary artist who uses the mediums of sculpture, painting, architecture, photography, costume, instruction, performance, architecture, textile, printmaking, curation, text, sound, and video to highlight the labels that are used to code and categorize human beings. His hybrid artistic approach revolves around the foundations and contexts of geopolitical, religious, sexual, and economic social systems. Questioning established boundaries and hierarchies by assuming a decompartmentalization between disciplines, Rad practice in the visual arts seeks to revolutionize these structures into evolving manifestations of activism.
Rad Hourani is known for inventing the first gender-neutral patterns, in addition to a non-gendered sizing system specific to a complete unisex wardrobe, between 2005 and 2007. At the age of 25, he introduced the first entirely gender-neutral ready-to-wear collection in fashion history via a runway performance in October 2007. At the age of 30, he was approached by the "Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture" in Paris to become an "invited member” with the endorsement of Sidney Toledano at “Christian Dior Couture” in 2012. At the age of 30, Rad Hourani became the first to both create and present a unisex couture collection in the history of "Haute Couture” in January 2013. His revolutionary concept of gender-neutral collections aims to initiate a dialogue on non-binarity through the medium of costume. Defending a baseline of equality, Rad Hourani's work has paved the way for future creations that challenge boundaries, using non-binary terms such as genderless, agender, genderfluid, non-gendered, all-gender, human, and others.
Rad Hourani's work has been exhibited at the Jardin du Palais-Royal in Paris (2009), the Yvon Lambert Gallery in New York (2010), the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2012), Tate Modern in London (2013), the Phi Centre in Montréal (2013), the MU Hybrid Art House in Eindhoven (2014), the FIT Museum in New York (2014), the Centre Cuturel Canadien in Paris (2015), the Herning Museum of Contemporary Art in Herning (2015), Arsenal Contemporary Art in Montréal (2015), the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York (2016), the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2017), the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (2019), the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery in Middletown (2019), the Noguchi Museum in New York (2019), the A.K.T; in Pforzheim (2021), and Artexte in Montréal (2023).

Rad Hourani, born in 1982 in Jordan, navigated a diverse heritage from a Jordanian-Canadian Catholic father, who pursued Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at McGill University in Montréal (Canada, 1970), and a Syrian Orthodox Christian mother, whose father served as a priest in Syria. Rad faced early challenges, being born with dysphonia, dysgraphia, and dyslexia.
His artistic inclinations emerged at the age of 12 in Jordan when he began using cameras to capture landscapes and friends, as well as during his mother's dressmaker fittings. Rad’s early exposure to aesthetics became a foundational aspect of his neurodivergent artistic expression.
Moving to Montréal (Québec) at 16, Rad grappled with an educational system unsuitable for his ADD and dyslexia. High school became a platform for his early engagement with the visual arts, focusing on aesthetics. After graduation, he entered the professional realm as an art director. Despite completing high school studies, he has no formal arts education.
At 23, Rad relocated to Paris, utilizing medium-format techniques to further his contemporary art practice. Describing his background as a "No-background background," Rad derived inspiration from personal experiences and observations, bypassing formal education.
His global perspective, shaped by a diverse upbringing—born in the Levant region to a Syrian Melkite Greek Catholic mother and a Jordanian-Canadian Orthodox Christian father and growing up in Canada—instigated a continual exploration of identity connotations. The recurring question, "Where are you really from?" propelled Rad's examination of societal categorizations and generalizations, encompassing gender, age, race, and class. Even as a non-religious adult living in cities like Paris and New York, he continued to feel a sense of non-belonging.
This multifaceted journey laid the foundation for Rad Hourani's distinctive artistic voice, reflecting a convergence of diverse influences and a commitment to challenging various forms of oppression and societal norms through his work. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————

Rad Hourani perceives humanity as an interconnected ecosystem of diverse cultures and emphasizes nonconformity as integral to individuality. His critique encompasses the discriminatory foundations of nationalism, racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, and authoritarianism, offering a pluralist perspective that scrutinizes our existence and operational modes, aiming to foster unity.
At the core of the artist’s philosophy is the belief that all individuals are multi-faceted and unique. His ideas are presented as universal and inclusive, consistently ensuring that marginalized communities are represented in his work. Rad's transdisciplinary vision challenges institutional formalism and aesthetics by advocating for the dissolution of disciplinary boundaries and promoting a unified approach. Notably, his journey is marked by a lack of post-secondary academic background, with his learning inherently defying systematic constraints.
As an artist classified as BIPOC, queer, and neurodivergent, Rad Hourani's multidisciplinary art practice confronts societal preconceptions related to identity and established hierarchies. His exploration extends to the origins of categorization, engaging in anthropological studies that involve extensive research to stimulate debates on prejudices and open dialogues about inclusion and inequality. Through these explorations, Rad aims to reveal the structures shaped by the historical and evolutionary connotations associated with a subject.
The oeuvre crafted by Rad honors art's capacity to engage human senses, acting as a bridge between concepts. His work, a radical de-compartmentalization of narratives, invites contemplation on how societal functions can be questioned and envisions an existence free from imposed limitations and conditioning. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————

THE MEDIUM OF COSTUME
Rad Hourani is perpetually aware of the power of aesthetics at large and how a person’s ensemble of outer garments has the capability of evoking nuanced characteristics. In using his own reflections, he examines the restrictive narrative around gender normative tropes of clothing. These have an impact on our daily lives through heteronormativity, gender privilege, homophobia, cissexism, and other forms of prejudice.
The predetermined societal declaration of gender enacts expectations to dress according to certain gender-specific codes. Society often neglects the inequalities caused by the containment of human expression through the body. Rad Hourani asks the question of how consumerism and art must become self-reflective in areas of codifying masculinity or femininity through cuts, colors, shades, motifs, and textiles.
By using the medium of costume to comment on this bone of contention, Rad Hourani explores ways of breaking down conceptual divisions. Through his art practice, he challenges the media and mass society, which uphold limitations through aesthetic conformity. His perspective aims to use this discipline to support an embodiment of liberation through the wearer.
RESEARCH In pioneering a non-binary dressing narrative within consumer industries and artistic platforms, Rad Hourani's process involves challenging the validity of conditioned standards for male and female clothing. He reflects on the first garments, originating with the sole purpose of clothing the body without the interference of gender association. Initially, clothing served the practical function of protecting the body from natural elements. In time, attachments to wealth, nobility, patriotism, and religious identity were asserted, and conceptions of gendered codes of dressing were adopted, remaining to this day.
His vision of an entire gender-neutral wardrobe diverges from the typical association of cross-dressing, where flamboyant clothing and theatrical motifs still carry boundaries of gendered connotations. Specifically, with the application of a flared outline, tailored cuts, and accessories. His methodology differentiates from the role and functions of uniforms or androgyny, as these terms still cater to classified concepts. Before this time, although "one size fits all" or unisex pieces like t-shirts and hats had existed, there was never entirely a ready-to-wear collection with a sizing system specific to all.
CONCEPTION In order to create a complete genderless wardrobe with a chart of sizes generated from his iterations of non-gendered patterns, Rad Hourani studied the varying human anatomy for two years. He dissects the body with precision to understand human morphology and uses the medium of architecture and geometry as a tool to construct alternative garments. The collections, conceived as transformable silhouettes, articulate flexibility in the expression of one's identity, which allows the wearer to express their own multiplicities. His innovative concept challenges the strict duality of gendered patterns that are the basis of clothing construction, from the manufacturing industries to formulaic design schools. Rad Hourani has no formal degree or training in fashion or design; this allowed him to avoid any influences from academic structures.
INVENTION OF NON-GENDERED COLLECTION In 2007, Rad Hourani created the first entirely gender-neutral ready-to-wear collection in the history of fashion by inventing patterns with a specific non-gendered sizing system. In this way, the agency of costume envisions an existence free from limitations and conditioning of the self.
The result is groundbreaking in the context of counterculture or historical trends in costume. The creation was exhibited at the Dominique Fiat Gallery in Paris via an installation of a runway performance. The ensembles depict a composition of ageless forms with neutral lines, timeless textures, and a dichromatic color palette of black and white. The minimalist schemes establish the neutrality of the artworks and initiate a dialogue of new possibilities by using symbolic vocabulary and propagating the meaning of dressing.
The creations were later exhibited through the discipline of runway performances in New York from 2008 to 2012 at the “Yvon Lambert Gallery” and others. His dedication to worldwide communications, with an ongoing presence in media and press interviews, acts as a form of activism. The critique via his art practice reminds the audience that the limiting preconceptions in the present ethos and rules of costume history are deeply intertwined with social inequality.
INFLUENCE ON ARTISTS AND INDUSTRY This revelation eradicates binary conditions and objects to the coercion of dressing according to society's superimposed idiosyncrasy. Upholding a baseline of equality, the unisex work paved the way for boundary-pushing creations of the future, applying non-binary terms such as genderless, agender, genderfluid, non-gendered, all genders, ungendered, human, and others.
Rad Hourani is a pioneer who invites the public to think outside the box and to change ways of doing and being through innovative artistic projects. His years of diligence between institutions worldwide have been punctuated by frequent international press events, exhibitions, and conferences. His creations have been shown in hundreds of venues and presented at many events around the world, despite the economic crisis of 2008 and the absence of current social media. His work revolutionizes our reality and is often credited as a major influence and inspiration for artists, architects, musicians, and designers. His influence stretches to creatives in various mediums, including Nick Cave, Thundercat, Balenciaga, Gucci, Givenchy, Prada, Giorgio Armani, and Karl Lagerfeld, who invited him personally to the Chanel shows in Paris and kept one of Rad’s books (published in 2011) on his desk for 7 years until his death in 2018. Rad Hourani's large knowledge and creative expertise have been implemented in private consulting, mentoring, and art direction for countless clients.
Rad Hourani collaborates with contemporary artists such as Lady Gaga, Larry Clark, Rihanna, Lenny Kravitz, Chinawoman, Jared Leto, Nick Cave, Shirine Neshat, and Édouard Lock. Rad Hourani's work has been featured internationally in publications such as the New York Times, Interview, Vogue, WSJ, Aesthetica, Elle, Time, V, CR book, National Geographic, i-D, The Cut, Vanity Fair, Dazed, Rolling Stone, BBC, Surface, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, WWD, Vice, The Guardian, Forbes, and Nowness.

Unisex Couture ( Invention ) —————————————————————————————————————————————————— Source: https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35186/ https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35184/
UNISEX COUTURE INVENTION In 2012, Rad Hourani was approached by the "Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture" in Paris to become an "invited member" as the first Canadian, with the endorsement of Sidney Toledano at "Christian Dior Couture.” Embodying an innovative spirit, Rad Hourani then became the first to both create and introduce a unisex collection in the history of "Haute Couture" in January of 2013. This moment confirms the necessity of genderless status within a historical institution.
Rad Hourani's "Unisex Couture" live performances make use of the medium of performative installations at the "Centre Culturel Canadien" in Paris as continuous manifestations of his vision to break the stereotypical narrative found in the dressing codes of society. The reveal is beyond typical androgyny or any countercultural movement and becomes an elevated craftsmanship of the arts, proposing an urgency for the acknowledgement of gender-neutral presence in institutionalized spaces.
The work has been exhibited at various institutions, including the "Herning Museum of Contemporary Art," "Cooper Hewitt" museum, “Arsenal art contemporain," "MU Hybrid Art House," "FIT Museum," "Tate Modern," and others. His one-of-a-kind ensembles are preserved by private collectors and museums, such as "The Fine Arts Museum" in Boston and others around the world.

The medium of Runway ( Performance Art ) —————————————————————————————————————————————————— source : https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35186/
Rad Hourani applies principles of architecture to the visceral premise of how each garment will react with the movements of the human body. Therefore, the works were crafted with movement in mind and attended to these dynamics. His runway performances incorporated movement of the body, parading with gestures to conjure symbolic meaning. The articulation of the body contextually projects confidence and self-celebration as an aesthetic disruption of social barriers. Persisting in challenging stereotypical narratives of labels, he questions the strict separations of men's and women's wear collections that are the basis of the fashion industry.
As the conventional catwalk is historically conceived to showcase the latest trends, it is designed to perpetuate a form of consumer anticipation through the release of seasonal collections, made available in stores six months later. Rad Hourani rethinks a sustainable anti-trend strategy and is geared towards producing timeless pieces that are simultaneously available online to order as they are being shown. Repeatedly, he states "genderless, raceless, ageless, nationless, limitless" for changing the systematic conventions of the catwalk when interviewed by the media about the theme of each season.
His walking art shows are presented at ground level, unlike the typical raised runways at the time, and the format of his catwalk was situated between the rows of seatings with no separations between the guests and the models. To add to the sense of an equitable environment in his settings, he added elements of live music and specific lighting, creating an inclusive ambience of belonging.
The ensembles were revealed through choreographed performances, where the forms evolved in motion. This allows for expression to manifest in the performer with the given instructions: to walk slowly to the beat, sharply turn, march forward without stopping, and others. Their attitudes carry out a metaphorical understanding of certain traits, like determination and perseverance. Further yet, they suggest a symbolism of pureness through their delivery as living sculptures. As the choreography progresses, we begin to notice the models coming all together at the end, a metaphor of human union.
SOCIAL IMPACT Rad Hourani's attracted a global audience with the use of costume as a medium to introduce a new sizing system specific to entirely unisex wardrobes, generated from his invention of gender-neutral patterns. The unprecedented unisex concept of his ready-to-wear and couture collections gives voice to issues of gender identity and inequality and highlights their ties to mainstream codes of dressing.
From 2007 to 2014, Rad Hourani used the discipline of runway as a manifestation of breaking through the divisions that occur in mainstream consumerism. Using this art practice as a method of expression served as a zone of activism for emerging dialogues for public shifts. In this manner, he collaborated with politicians and other creatives, involved live musicians during his biannual installations in New York and Paris, and was hosted internationally by various cities and institutions.
ACTIVISM Rad Hourani's years of diligence between world-wide institutions were dotted with frequent international press events, exhibitions, lectures, conferences, and livestreams. His creations were carried by 250 locations in 30 countries and presented at several events around the globe, despite the economic crisis in 2008 and the absence of present-day social media. His vision evokes radical change throughout the world and revolutionizes our reality.
Rad Hourani forges a space for niche discussion around societal and institutional biases by way of evolutionary activism concerning the impact of fundamental normative codes. Through his art practice, he demonstrated the impact of physical expression, from the runways to the streets, on upending societal conformity. The transformative nature of his geometrically neutral proportions demonstrates an unlimited language of silhouettes, rejecting the binaries of costume. The work is groundbreaking in the context of historical trends, like the garconne look of the 1920s and the peacock revolution of the 1960s. The depiction, which appears on the runway, proposes non-gendered definitions of cuts and forms and causes deliberation to empower new narratives.

Between 2005 and 2007, Rad Hourani invented the first gender-neutral patterns, in addition to a non-gendered sizing system specific to a complete unisex wardrobe. In October 2007, at the age of 25, he introduced the first entirely gender-neutral ready-to-wear collection in fashion history via a runway performance. In 2012, he was approached by the "Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture" in Paris to become an "invited member” as the first Canadian. In January 2013, at the age of 30, Rad Hourani became the first to both create and present a unisex couture collection in the history of "Haute Couture". His revolutionary concept of gender-neutral collections aims to initiate a dialogue on non-binarity through the medium of costume. Defending a baseline of equality, Rad Hourani's work has paved the way for boundary-pushing creations of the future, using non-binary terms such as genderless, agender, genderfluid, non-gendered, all-gender, human, and others.
Rad Hourani was invited to teach and lecture to spread his knowledge in artistic and academic communities in Seoul, Dubai, Beijing, Paris, Berlin, Tbilisi, New York, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, London, and other cities, as well as at various institutions, including the Centre Pompidou, FIT Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, UQÀM, and École du Louvre. He was a member of the jury of numerous art and film festivals and programmed a "carte blanche” at The International Festival of Films on Art (Le FIFA). He has is a curator of solo and group exhibitions by many artists in public art establishments. Rad has made contributions through collaborations with the LGBTQIA2S+ community and events on feminism and diversity. Some of his books have been published by the Fondation Phi pour l'art contemporain by Phoebe Greenberg. He is of the “personnalité de la semaine” of La Presse, a guest on Radio-Canada's "Tout le monde en parle", and one of the Montreal visionaries of the McCord Stewart Museum exhibition.
In October 2023, Rad Hourani's exhibition at Artexte in Montréal questions the education system and highlights issues of exclusion in language policies. His sculptural installation aims to open a dialogue on invisible handicaps and issues related to written language. His body of work plays a critical role in the fight against inequality. It explores how language can be constantly reinvented to include people with neurodiversity as well as the deaf. The shapes and textures of his works enable blind and partially-sighted people to access them through touch. Such an approach can help advance social movements.
This nonconformist artist (innovator, sculptor, researcher, architect, teacher, philosopher, activist, etc.) seeks to propose, transmit, collaborate, and nurture even further the idea we might have of the arts through his activism. The ideas he puts forward are universal and inclusive, always ensuring that marginalized communities are represented in his work through a unifying prism. His work has been presented in partnership with the Graham Foundation, the Canadian Center for Architecture (CCA), the City of Chicago, the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCASE), the Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater, Université de Sherbrooke, Wesleyan University, and endorsed by Sidney Toledano of Christian Dior Couture, Franca Sozzani and Anna Wintour of Palazzo Morando di Milano, Phoebe Greenberg of Fondation Phi pour l'art contemporain, Pierre Bergé, and François-Henri Pinault, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts, Fonderie Darling, and Musée des Beaux Arts de Bordeaux. Rad was an artist-in-residence at Artexte and is a grant recipient of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council of the Arts. Through his diverse and innovative projects, he’s a cultural icon that contributes to Montréal, Québec and Canada's cultural and intellectual heritage.
This pioneer is the first Canadian to be awarded the great honor of becoming a haute couture "invited member" (the highest distinction in fine arts) of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, among the world's leading designers. Rad Hourani is internationally recognized and has produced his artistic creations in Canada, which have been exported from Montreal to over 30 countries. He is a key player in Canada's cultural and intellectual heritage and ecosystem. Rad Hourani attracts a global audience with his divisive events, bringing about evolving dialogues and public change. He has been welcomed internationally by cities, politicians, and institutions, including the Centre Culturel Canadien in Paris, and by Canadian ambassadors in Paris, who have opened their homes to him to present and honor his work.

Rad Hourani's work has been exhibited at the Jardin du Palais-Royal in Paris (2009), the Yvon Lambert Gallery in New York (2010), the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2012), Tate Modern in London (2013), the Phi Centre in Montréal (2013), the MU Hybrid Art House in Eindhoven (2014), the FIT Museum in New York (2014), the Centre Cuturel Canadien in Paris (2015), the Herning Museum of Contemporary Art in Herning (2015), Arsenal Contemporary Art in Montréal (2015), the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York (2016), the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2017), the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (2019), the Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery in Middletown (2019), the Noguchi Museum in New York (2019), the A.K.T; in Pforzheim (2021), and Artexte in Montréal (2023). extra sources : https://artexte.ca/en/2022/10/rad-hourani-artexte/ https://aestheticamagazine.com/448411-2/ https://rain-mag.com/an-interview-with-designer-rad-hourani/ https://metalmagazine.eu/en/post/interview/rad-hourani-multitask-is-the-new-human —————————————————————————————————————————————————— Early life —————————————————————————————————————————————————— Source: https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35186/ https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35184/ https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35210/ Rad Hourani, born in 1982 in Jordan, navigated a diverse heritage from a Jordanian-Canadian Catholic father, who pursued Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at McGill University in Montréal (Canada, 1970), and a Syrian Orthodox Christian mother, whose father served as a priest in Syria. —————————————————————————————————————————————————— Art ( practice ) —————————————————————————————————————————————————— Source: https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35210/ https://artexte.ca/en/2022/10/rad-hourani-artexte/ Rad Hourani perceives humanity as an interconnected ecosystem of diverse cultures and emphasizes nonconformity as integral to individuality.
Rad Hourani collaborates with contemporary artists such as Lady Gaga, Larry Clark, Rihanna, Lenny Kravitz, Chinawoman, Jared Leto, Nick Cave, Shirine Neshat, and Édouard Lock. https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35186/ https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35184/ UNISEX COUTURE INVENTION In 2012, Rad Hourani was approached by the "Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture" in Paris to become an "invited member" as the first Canadian, with the endorsement of Sidney Toledano at "Christian Dior Couture.” Embodying an innovative spirit, Rad Hourani then became the first to both create and introduce a unisex collection in the history of "Haute Couture" in January of 2013. His one-of-a-kind ensembles are preserved by private collectors and museums, such as "The Fine Arts Museum" in Boston and others around the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herning_Museum_of_Contemporary_Art https://www.heartmus.dk/en/visit/exhibitions/past-exhibitions/2014/129-clash-counterculture-in-fashion.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooper_Hewitt,_Smithsonian_Design_Museum https://www.cooperhewitt.org/2015/09/15/cooper-hewitt-announces-2016-exhibition-beauty%E2%80%95cooper-hewitt-design-triennial/ https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsenal_art_contemporain https://cultmtl.com/2015/11/rad-hourani-neutrality/ https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/MU_Hybrid_Art_House https://www.mu.nl/nl/exhibitions/genderblender https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fashion_Institute_of_Technology https://exhibitions.fitnyc.edu/trend-ology/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate_Modern https://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/hyperlink/vase-curate https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_of_Fine_Arts,_Boston https://collections.mfa.org/search/objects/*/rad%20hourani
—————————————————————————————————————————————————— The medium of Runway ( Performance Art ) —————————————————————————————————————————————————— source : https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35186/ Rad Hourani applies principles of architecture to the visceral premise of how each garment will react with the movements of the human body. The depiction, which appears on the runway, proposes non-gendered definitions of cuts and forms and causes deliberation to empower new narratives. extra sources : https://www.askmen.com/fashion/trends_400/491b_rad-hourani-interview.html https://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/20/fashion/in-fashion-gender-lines-are-blurring.html?searchResultPosition=16 https://www.nowness.com/contributor/398/rad-hourani https://archive.nytimes.com/runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/26/burberry-runway-to-checkout/?searchResultPosition=7 https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/201817627024162484/ http://youstrikemyfancy.com/rad-hourani-unisex-couture-show/ https://style.time.com/2013/07/05/from-paris-with-love-haute-couture-fashion-week-in-30-pictures/photo/alternative-view-haute-couture-pfw-fw-2013-2014-29/ https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/fashion-and-beauty/fashion/canadian-designer-based-in-paris-redefines-couture-with-unisex-garments/article22908896/ https://www.reddit.com/r/rupaulsdragrace/comments/cjlq0z/the_exhibition_on_gender_bending_fashion_at/ https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/12/arts/gender-fashion-boston-mfa.html https://sg.news.yahoo.com/paris-haute-couture-highlights-rad-hourani-164238893.html?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAIwT4Sxc-LUJJmV1aLcEa9zeg84AZ8fnOQpLQNrIzV2PZKoqLLhtysgAPxolretchQ05VkUyQTtPfYkMR3XbVb6v77hiq2ZS2q6d2ix2U8Kt6P2OhufEBaBr5EYwqMijsJ5JNyx-sb_IiqPdZbJsVJvl6xnXH26ULsCb281ivdES https://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/16/fashion/some-men-are-dressed-to-the-nines-the-height-of-their-pumps.html?searchResultPosition=14 https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-birth-of-unisex-couture-rad-hourani https://www.thestar.com/life/beauty-and-fashion/rad-hourani-s-unisex-ultra-modern-design-marks-a-new-age-for-haute-couture/article_68459168-3b87-597c-b19c-84a40664dae3.html https://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/28/business/sweeping-away-gender-specific-toys-and-labels.html?searchResultPosition=17 —————————————————————————————————————————————————— Activism and advocacy work —————————————————————————————————————————————————— sources ; https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35186/ https://e-artexte.ca/id/eprint/35184/ Between 2005 and 2007, Rad Hourani invented the first gender-neutral patterns, in addition to a non-gendered sizing system specific to a complete unisex wardrobe.

- You seem to be proposing a wholesale rewrite, but this is highly promotional and sourced only to Wikipedia. Wikipedia articles cannot be used to source other Wikipedia articles, see WP:CIRCULAR. You would be better off starting smaller and proposing one or two changes at a time, to increase the chances a volunteer will want to invest the time needed to review the request. 331dot (talk) 19:43, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Why is no one taking the time to check the Rad Hourani page on Wikipedia? He is a cultural icon and a very important figure who revolutionized our world with his work. It seems to me that the volunteers are not giving any time to BIPOC innovators of the 21st century.
- Why not have all the details on his page? Why diminish his work and innovations? Does his name need to be anglophone or francophone for the wikipedia community to care ?
- Why do you categorize him as a "fashion designer" when Rad Hourani mentioned several times in interviews that he refuses to be categorized as a fashion or designer? This is creating confusion and harming his art practice. Art design researher (talk) 23:09, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia describes someone as independent reliable sources describe them, not how a person describes themselves. That can certainly be mentioned in the article if cited, but this won't just describe him as he wants to be described.
- This is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can. The fact that this man is not English or French speaking is immaterial to whether or not he merits an article. 331dot (talk) 00:07, 2 February 2024 (UTC)
- Rad Hourani is Canadian, he speaks english and french. The reliable sources I provided describes him as an "interdisciplinary artist" and not as a fashion designer. It is astonishing that the wikipedia impose a public identity on him that creates confusion.
- A public identity is considered in the same context as that of people with non-binary identities, who use the term "they" instead of she or he, and so on.
- I can provide a shorter text if you want, but the page is blocked and no edits can be done... can someone unblock his page for others to contribute to it ? Art design researher (talk) 01:20, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- All I'm suggesting to you is that to increase the chances a volunteer will want to invest the time needed to review.your requests, that you start much smaller and roll out one or two small changes at a time. As one edit request is accepted, you can then make another. Make sure your proposals use a neutral point of view without embellishing language. 331dot (talk) 01:29, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- You twice again put massive rewrites that no one will want to invest the time to read(see WP:TLDR). Propose your changes one paragraph at a time, or at least direct people to the condensed version above if you want it reconsidered. 331dot (talk) 16:29, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
