North Star Vision

edit

The Racine Unified School District embraces the North Star Vision, a shared vision that clearly identified the path for success for all RUSD students with the ultimate goal to graduate career and/or college ready. This path starts and kindergarten and runs through every grade level with specific targets along the way.

The North Star Vision uses data (such as standardized test scores and individual student achievement) to help educators and parents/guardians to identify gaps in achievement so steps can be taken to make adjustments and keep students progressing on the path. The staff at each RUSD school also uses data to create customized School Improvement Plans that are tied to the needs of students.

It's only fitting that North Star was chosen as the focal point of this vision. Harriett Tubman, the fabled 19th century humanitarian, used the North Star in the night sky as a guide for slaves to reach freedom. Racine was an important way point on the Underground Railroad. Please visit the RUSD Web site (www.racine.k12.wi.us)for more details on the North Star Vision and for regular updates. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Schoolscommunicator (talkcontribs) 22:47, 5 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

User:TJ Spyke added a tag suggesting that McKinley Middle Charter School be merged into Racine Unified School District. I agree, and also think that Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary/Middle School should be merged into Racine Unified School District. There is nothing notable about either of these primary schools that could not be included in the article about the school district. --BaronLarf 11:02, 6 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
