Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Plenty of media coverage, interesting (though minor) scandal. Subject of the article appears to have gone a bit over the line in terms of inflating his CV and has been called on it in a very public fashion in a reputable newspaper. A few reminders on wikipedia policies and guidelines

1. Information must be sourced reliably, and per WP:RS reliable sources are independent of their subject. As a matter of practice, we usually relax this rule so a CV can be used for noncontroversial information. As the CV itself is controversial here, that won't be the case.

2. Wikipedia does not host CVs. See WP:Autobiography.

3. A couple of newspaper articles may not be sufficient to establish notability, and the kindest thing to do here may be to send the article to AfD and be done with it.

Looks like Elspectador has given us a list of newspaper articles that feature Dr. Cuero. I don't see notability being an issue going forward.

Dr. Cuero, as an academic I have some idea how distressing this must be for you. I expect you'll be tempted to just continually revert the article back to your favored version. You won't be the first person to think of this. The technique is called edit warring and doing so may lead to your account being blocked, leaving you with no influence on this article. If you confine your remarks to this talk page, however, I and other editors will be happy to work with you to write a neutral article that reflects accurately the sources we have. I'm Adding a polemic section. The person who is editing the information is not Dr. Cuero . Hello, SwinburneMel. I'm afraid most of the material you've added to the article isn't appropriate and will eventually be reverted. As I mentioned on my talk page, the Francis Crick article doesn't contain a citation list, and this article won't either. I understand why you think it might be useful to have a wikipedia article that refutes the El Spectador story, but that's not an appropriate use of this resource. I'm willing to work with you to make this a good, neutral encyclopedia article, but the first step in this will be removing much of the material you added.

Semi-protected edit request on 12 December 2013

I dont understand the reason why you add information about the "Espectador", the person who write this article can be exposed to criminal complaint by lie. Dr. Cuero was the National hispanic Scientist of the 2013 by MOSI Tampa. You can see this information here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAiYaOjyFME&feature=youtu.be. Not done for now: The paragraph in this article is objectively reporting what was written in El Espectador. It describes not only the allegations, but Cuero's reply to the allegations. Wikipedia editors don't want to defame anyone, but we don't conceal facts just because they are uncomfortable. Please do not make or imply legal threats, as this will not help to make progress. Please instead explain objectively why this material should not be included. If you would like to reply to this, that will be welcome, and if you set "answered=no" in the template at the top of this section, it will be seen and someone will then look at it very soon. Note on MOSI award

A note on the comment of the IP above: MOSI stands for the Museum of Science and Industry, a perfectly respectable institution in Tampa, Florida, but not necessary one with a national reputation. It has been giving out a "National Hispanic Scientist of the Year Award" for about a decade now. As scientific honors go, this is a couple degrees less notable than an honorary doctorate and not the kind of thing we add to biographies of notable scientists.

This particular case is a little more complicated, though. The press release for the award presentation says in part "[Cuero] has been published in more than 110 scientific journals in the fields of biology, microbiology, molecular biology and synthetic biology." The actual total is closer to 5.

Ordinarily, I'd just let that go: the guy's reputation is in tatters and we don't need to catalog every instance of his fraud here. But, since the MOSI award is what English-language readers are going to be most familiar with, perhaps we should address it.
