Ahmed, Shahab. What is Islam? The Importance of Being Islamic. Princeton: Princeton University Press. 2016. Book. The entire 5th chapter focuses on Hermeneutical Engagement. There are many different aspects of interpretation that are discussed in this chapter and it will be used as a general overview of gaining an understand of all the different aspects of Hermeneutics in the Qur’an. Brohi, A.K., Islam in the Modern World. Lahore: Sheikh Mohammad Amin for Publishers United, Ltd. Second Edition: 1975. Book. In Chapter 10 the Doctrine of Tasawwuf focuses on interpretation for purifying oneself. The chapter focuses on interpretation of spiritual growth. On page 181 there is a section on interpreting the Quranic verse where god breathes life into adam. There is a consistent breakdown of verses and how they are interpreted.

Lawrence, Bruce. The Qur’an A Biography. New York: Atlantic Monthly Press. 2006. Book. In chapter 14 and 15 there is extensive information on how the Qur’an is interpreted in regards to Women and Human rights. These are the main two focus points of our project and this book will provide a greater understanding of how the Qur’an is interpreted and used in replace of medical treatment.Casey1279 (talk) 19:02, 8 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ali’s article presents a queer reading of the Qur’an, and also speaks to how Mary is represented in the text. This will be used mainly when discussing the human rights portion of the project, as well as the section on the representation of women in the Qur’an.

Gade, Anna M, Perfection Makes Practice: Learning, Emotion, and the Recited Qur’an in Indonesia. University of Hawai’i Press Honolulu.

In Chapter Three of Gades book, she covers Tajwid, the rules for correct vocalization for learning to read the Qur’an. These rules differ by culture, and help people learn the text. This will be used to further elaborate on Qur’anic Hermeneutics.

The history of Quranic hermeneutics edit

This article lacks of history of Quranic hermeneutics. The article contains interpretation of Quran based of hermeneutics, which is a method of interpretation, and explains rather Western influence than Islamic one. There is its own method of interpretating Quran that is discussed in Tafsir, and Quranic hermeneutics came only in 20th century.
