Questionable cause = false cause?
editThat's what this article seems to be claiming. And it goes on to say "are informal fallacies where a cause is incorrectly identified". Seems to me nonsense.
A false cause would be a cause that has been incorrectly identified. But a questionable cause is, surely, one that may or may not actually be the cause, but the point is that the argument does nothing to prove either way. How best can we rewrite it so as not to confuse the two concepts? — Smjg (talk) 23:40, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Even your example "Every time I score an A on the test its a sunny day. Therefore the sunny day causes me to score well on the test" is wrong. Why it cannot be that when it is sunny I'm not stressed and perform better? Damir490930 (talk) 06:34, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
