jdcc citation edit

I found this website that apparently has an entire paragraph plagiarized. Now I'm not sure if the Wikipedia paragraph came first or this was. http://wildflowers.jdcc.edu/Post_Oak.html --Simspartan (talk) 19:51, 2 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Good eye. It appears that Wikipedia came first; the first four sentences of the paragraph has been in Wikipedia since before 2009. The fifth sentence was dded in 2009. The final sentence of the paragraph was added in 2015. It's extremely unlikely that Wikipedia would have three different editors more than 6 years apart plagiarizing three different parts of a paragraph from the same site (on top of which, I'm pretty familiar with the work of the editor who made the 2015 edit, and think it quite unlikely that they would have plagiarized). I understand you will be rewriting this article soon. I would suggest not including the jdcc.edu citation as that makes it appear that Wikipedia was doing the plagiarism rather than the other way around. If you can find other sources that can be cited to support the statements in that paragraph, it would be excellent. Plantdrew (talk) 01:11, 4 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
ok I changed the wording, and citation in my sandbox. I went and found this which led me to look for stellate, which was on eflora, then found that stellate are a type of trichome. --Simspartan (talk) 15:04, 16 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
