Talk:Quercus alba

Latest comment: 6 months ago by Woodlot in topic Shawshank

Does anyone have any sources for the age? One line in the intro claims they live over 600 years, another a couple paragraphs down says over eight hundred, but yet on the "famous trees" page there is a documented white oak that lived to be about 450 and it is written as though that is one of the oldest documented trees, which makes the 600 and 800 claims seem questionable. 216.158.51.82 (talk) 20:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tallest tree edit

What's the evidence for a tree of 144'? According to https://www.americanforests.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/BT-Register-PDF_FINAL_web.pdf, the champion tree is 110' tall. I plan to edit this if I hear no objections. Beowulf (talk) 15:04, 18 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Shawshank edit

A mention of the famous White Oak from The Shawshank Redemption (that recently fell in a storm) would seem appropriate for this page. 92.24.52.135 (talk) 18:21, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

There is already a paragraph devoted to the Shawshank oak within the "Culture" section. Woodlot (talk) 19:23, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
