List and Links to Departments

There are a few things that bother me about this section. If no objections, I'll change it.

• not all are departments (Queensland Rail, TAFE, others)
• at least one omission (DSQ, now corrected), and maybe others
• poor web style to have "link to ..." as a link (refer TimBL: Make your (hyper)text readable). Not sure how best to approach because I can see the need for Wikipedia links where they exist on the department name. Ideally, present like natural language which would also make sense in offline context. I'll see what else has been done on similar entries, but ideas welcome. One thought is to link only to QG's own index.

Cleanout explanation

Executed changes suggested in comment from November 2005 in absence of objections. Not entirely happy with result, but at least it is a cleaner starting point. No good Australian state govt examples on which to base structure.

Change of Premier

Beattie has announced his retirement, and it looks like the new Premier will be Anna Bligh.

Changes in governance won't be announced for another day or two officially.

Merge proposal

List of Queensland courts and tribunals contains four courts and could easily be listed on Government of Queensland with other branches of government. Midnight12 (talk) 04:15, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't agree with the merge proposal. The Government of Queensland is entirely different from the Queensland Law Courts and the two subjects should be kept entirely separate. Figaro (talk) 01:24, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Dead link

hello,

In the external links section the "The Constitution of Queensland" link is dead, does not lead to anything but a 404 page, Could someone please replace this with a working link?

To expand

I notice this article rates poorly for completion. It should expand to include more of the history, list major Royal Commissions and Inquiries, role of Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, etc - 15:56, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

Rename to Queensland Government

Hi! Over the past several years, the state government has moved to reaffirm it's "Queensland Government" branding over any "Government of Queensland" branding. I think that in respect of this, since it's the most common name and hence, the most common term people would expect. I propose that this page is moved to Queensland Government, to align with the state's standards and the general publicity of the government. ItsPugle (talk) 03:30, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

I would agree with this position given that 'Queensland Government' is both the name used by the entity itself, and is also the colloquial name in general usage (I don't believe that 'Government of Queensland' is in either usage). This form I believe is also used by the other Australian state governments.StormcrowMithrandir 09:04, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
