Talk:Queen Elizabeth Park, Kāpiti Coast

This isn't the primary topic of the NZ Queen Elizabeth parks and if you include the Christchurch QE2 park in the analysis, it's not even the one with the highest page views. Usually, I would just boldly move a page like this but I'm not sure there is a clear dab for it. WP:NCNZ says that for parks, the name of the town or city is used for disambiguation. Here, the district appears more appropriate as it spans from Paekākāriki to Raumati South. I'd be inclined to simply use "Kapiti" as the dab, but "Kapiti Coast" is another contender. Thoughts? @Schwede66:. Yes, I had wondered about this when I first came across this article. In some image captions, I have already been using Queen Elizabeth Park, Kapiti Coast (although not consistently). On reflection, I think the DAB of Kapiti Coast may be preferable to Paekākāriki, Mackays Crossing or Raumati South, but I am a bit on-the-fence. If you look at sites for other places in the nearby vicinity, you find the location given as "near Paekākāriki" or "Paekākāriki, Kapiti". See: [1], and [2]. Unsurprisingly, facilities at the northern end of the park, such as the Kapiti Pony Club, are described as being in Raumati South. Choosing Kapiti Coast as the DAB overcomes any "location-bias". I note that the Category name in Commons is also Queen Elizabeth Park, New Zealand. See c:Category:Queen_Elizabeth_Park,_New_Zealand. If we move the page, should we also try to change the Category name in Commons ?. I have not undertaken a category name change in Commons before, although I have recently raised this closely related discussion: c:Commons:Categories for discussion/2022/10/Category:Camp McKay, Paekakariki. In that case I was seeking to address another issue, and proposed sticking with Paekākāriki (just with macrons added), but this could be revisited if we seek consistency. Thoughts ?-- Marshelec (talk) 19:54, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Easy to also change the dab on Commons. Once we've agreed on something, I can look after the thing on Commons no trouble. Schwede66 20:08, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
For the dab, I favour using Kapiti Coast. --Marshelec (talk) 21:28, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
The next question is about spelling. I note that the District Council uses Kāpiti. [3]. However, all the Wiki usage is without a macron, see:Kapiti I guess we use the form without a macron. Marshelec (talk) 21:33, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well, there's this and that. The former is an official name but "Official By Other Legislation" presumably refers to the Local Government Act (and I note not all districts change their legal name even after they have adopted macrons for use in their promotional name). The latter is not official. Either way, none include a macron and neither should we. I'm sure it'll change at some point. Schwede66 01:46, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Paewiki and Pseudopanax, you've both made a few edits to this article. Any thoughts? Schwede66 01:49, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'd be in favour of Kapiti Coast, because QE Park isn't usually associated specifically with Paekakariki or Raumati. Mackays Crossing is it's main entrance, but not really a definitive place as such in most people's minds I reckon. Lastly, just "Kapiti" would be a bit ambiguous, as there is also Kapiti Island. Moved page to Queen Elizabeth Park, Kapiti Coast. --Marshelec (talk) 21:56, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've tidied things up on Commons. Schwede66 01:51, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
