Merge with Madlib edit

They should be seperate because even though Madlib and Quasimoto are the same person, they are different rappers with different styles.

I think it should be since they are the same person, just different names/identities in the biz. It's like MF DOOM and Viktor Vaughan are both in the Daniel Dumile article. --- Xephyrwing 16:53, 29 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

nah mang- you are wrong. peace

I believe it's good to have this seperate article because of both the popularity/commercial success of Quasimoto and because there have been just as many albums released under this Madlib pseudonym as any of his others. Gonk 23:25, 10 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • I think we should merge this with Madlib. All 50 of MF DOOM's aliases are under "Daniel Dumile". Why not put all of Madlib's aliases under Madlib, or Otis Jackson Jr? -The Hams 18:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree - a sub heading under Madlib would be a good idea.

I also agree, a sub-heading would be good, especially with the MF DOOM precedent aubrey 03:14, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

IT SHOULD NOT BE MERGED BECAUSE MADLIB AND QUASIMOTO HAVE DIFFERENT STYLES, ALMOST LIKE THEY'RE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. MF DOOM HAS 100 DIFFERENT NAMES, ALL THE SAME STYLE RAPPING. IGNORANT PEOPLE. ---burgz. 21:34, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

From the man himself in an interview you can read at http://www.stonesthrow.com/madlib/urbansmarts.html

'Do those different roles, all those musicians from the Yesterday's New Quintet and also Quasimoto, represent your various moods? "Uhm, I don't know. What do you mean? Everybody acts like the Yesterday's New Quintet is just me. People act like Quasimoto is me. It's not me, it's my homeboy, I just do the beats, you know?"

I mean it could be that he comes only out on special occasions, when you're in a special mood. "Uhm, naw. Quasimoto is in the water right now, chilling. Trying to look at girls. Hooking up with girls and stuff (laughs) I do the beats, and I also rap on the album. You hear me rapping with my homeboy Quas."

So he's one of your best friends? "Sometimes we get along, sometimes I hate 'em. Sometimes we don't get along. He tries to take my girls and shit."'

These are seperate articles for a reason, Madlib may have created Quasimoto but Quasimoto is a seperate musical entity and deserves his own article.

Guys, merge was done in the wrong way. Fisrt, I was not able to find merge notifications in the article history. Second, but more important, the information from this article was not properly added (as a section) to Madlib article. Third, there was no consensus about merge. That's why I've restored this article. Netrat (talk) 01:49, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

More about origins edit

I think this article makes it unclear of what Quasimoto really is - Madlib's voice sped up. Perhaps more about how Madlib originally made Quasimoto songs for himself, and Peanut Butter Wolf picked up on it?

I'm also curious about the source of the first paragraph, which I've seen copied elsewhere. If Madlib "didn't like the sound of his voice," why did he perform as the MC for Lootpack for years, make an album with J Dilla where he rapped on half the tracks, and use his own, non-sped up voice for nearly half of the lyrics on the Quas albums? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.112.108.225 (talk) 18:05, 22 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Quasimodo edit

Some anon change the redirect from to Madlib to the redirect to Quasimodo. Please don't do it again. Netrat (talk) 01:47, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can somebody clarify please edit

"keeping content simple (weed, rap, etc.) and using crazy samples" Please define what a "crazy sample" is. Somebody new to the music industry has no idea what a sample is (so wiki it), and no sober person knows what "crazy" in this context means. Intricate? Loud? Dissonant? Last.fm? edit

How does the community feel about adding Last.fm profiles as external links? I am (not really) sorry for asking on this page, but I didn't really know where else to do it :) --87.56.171.70 (talk) 19:37, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
