I think there's plenty that can be done to improve this article. Here are some initial ideas:

• Add some images:
  1. energy plot for unbiased quantum well + wavefunctions
  2. calculated and observed spectra for unbiased well
  3. energy plot for biased QW + wavefunctions
  4. calculated and observed spectra for biased well
• Tidy up the theoretical description:
  1. Add in-line references to textbook derivation
  2. Check through the maths for errors
  3. Calculate the absorption energies with and without electric field
  4. Calculate the absorption coefficient
  5. More about excitonic effects
  6. Other effects such as Fang-Howard tunneling?
• Add a history section:
  1. Who was Stark? Who were the first investigators of the effect?
  2. Experimental validation?
• Practical applications (QCSE modulators) section:
  1. Applications of QCSE modulators
  2. Achievable modulation rate?
  3. Commercialisation? Uses in industry?
