SIL? edit
At the South African National Museum of Military History there are two of these guns. One inscribed R.G.F 1937 NoS. 2755 and the other S.I.L. 1942 NoS. 8273. I assume R.G.F. stands for Royal Gun Factory, but does anyone know what S.I.L. stands for? Oh, as a sidenote, the breaches have definite sidedness when mounted on the twin XIX with safety and firing mechanisms machined and fitted on the outside as mounted. They are even inscribed L and R (2755 above is right mounted and 8273 left) --NJR_ZA (talk) 21:43, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Don't quote me 'pon this, but I believe S.I.L. stands for Standard Inference Load. No idea what it actually means though; you're on your own there, buddy! Hehe! Aidan Biltner (talk) 12:35, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
