Talk:Punjab Province (British India)

Possible Source of Information edit

I found a reference to an article in the Hindu Times from 2007, describing how the British occupying forces encouraged the split of Sikhism in to a separate religion by purging Hindu influences. Unfortunately, all I have is a blog article: http://constantmotion.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/a-lethal-cocktail-of-religion-politics-ht-article/. The blog article itself has a detailed summary. I am not qualified to say how accurate the information might be. If someone could follow it up, it might be useful. Monado (talk) 15:27, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge of Crescat e fluviis edit

This was created with minimal content. It does have some info not included on this page, so propose merging into here somewhere instead. Nikthestoned 16:18, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Support, as this little-known motto doesn't seem to merit its own article. It can also be added at List of mottos. Moonraker (talk) 19:02, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Punjab Province (British India)Punjab Province – As per WP:COMMONNAME. – Filpro (talk) 18:55, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:59, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I think the move would keep in line with other related articles such as the Bengal Presidency, Bombay Presidency, Madras Presidency, etc.
  • Procedural Oppose the article is already residing at the common name, since the common name is the portion of the name that is not disambiguation. The proposed target and the current name have the same common name so the proposition is missing any rationale. Without a valid rationale being presented, the move request should be closed. Further the nominator moved the page that used to be located at "Punjab Province" so this is tantamount to a multimove that was not properly requested. The disambiguation page should be returned to the base location -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 07:00, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Punjab Province (disambiguation) needs to move back to the base name Punjab Province and Punjab Province (British India) needs to stay where it is per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and WP:DAB.  Philg88 talk 11:18, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Why parts of india like aksai chin and balochistan are shown engulfed by pakistan and china?? edit

Why wikipedia is showing parts like balochistan and aksai chin engulfed by pakistan and india. They are trying to hurt our emotions by destroying our map of india. 202.43.120.64 (talk) 16:22, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Renaming of this article edit

The article should be renamed to British Punjab as that was (officially) and still is (commonly) the main name for referring to colonial Punjab. PeoplesRepublicOfChina01 (talk) 10:22, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

@PeoplesRepublicOfChina01: this would be a potentially controversial move, so please see WP:PCM for how to propose the move here. Thanks, 2A00:23EE:2678:4134:58F8:CFF:FE3A:2E35 (talk) 12:15, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
