Why this article edit

Currently there is no immd. plan to start Pune metro work. It is going to take years after sanction. Why we need to have such article on Wikipedia now? Just because, it is coming in news, do we really need to have such projects on Wikipedia.... Yogee23 (talk) 09:41, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I could go back to 2007 and fetch a mention of this project in news. The project is even older than that for sure and has being receiving coverage all over this time. It surely passes WP:GNG. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 11:07, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Needs better planning, better execution edit

Pune metro's current plan is insufficient and does not solve pune's traffic problems.

Following is the list of areas where most people work in pune (IT companies, banks, manufacturing companies etc.) :

1. Kharadi - Wagholi. 2. Phursungi - Hadapsar - Magarpatta - Mundhwa 3. Kalyani Nagar - Yerwada - Airport 4. Wanowrie - Camp - Pune Station 5. Peth areas - Swargate - katraj 6. Deccan - SB road - Shivaji Nagar 7. Aundh - Baner 10. Hinjewadi - Chakan - pcmc

Additionally the city has 4 - 5 major railway stations 1. Pune railway station 2. Shivaji nagar railway station 3. Hadapsar railway station 4. Khadki railway station 5. Loni railway station

The important bus stations are also mentioned below: 1. Mahanagar palika 2. Swargate 3. Shivaji nagar 4. Pune station 5. Hadapsar 6. Bhekrai nagar

Most residential areas have developed around the commercial areas mentioned above. So it would make sense to connect them.

The railway stations already have local trains which could be improved and connected to the metros. So that people from all over pune can utilize the metro.

The airport needs to be connected too.

All IT park areas, manufacturing areas need to be connected.

A simple study of bus frequencies and routes, Traffic data analysis can provide enough information for better planning.

The pune metro unfortunately targets only the selected few, hence the ridership is low.

Hope that helps understanding the situation in our city🙏 103.208.69.32 (talk) 13:40, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
