Is that correct in this case? Surely Kipling was popular enough by then that he didn't have to self-publish?--MarkMLl (talk) 16:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was not uncommon for successful authors to self-publish, in order to receive a greater share of the profits, or to have greater control over production. Alice in Wonderland was self-published, for example. This is a classic children's book by a winner of the Nobel prize for literature. I'm inclined to assign it high importance. The article is in dire need of attention, though. Robina Fox (talk) 16:03, 7 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
