Children's books? edit

What about Harry Potter? Nothing in this article's title or introductory text indicates it should list only non-juvenile novels. pfahlstrom 22:33, 14 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

No! but it's "directly" derived from the "Publisher's Weekly" list so it is their definition that is being documented here. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 13:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
In that case this article should be either retitled to "according to Publisher's weekly", or to "non juvenile" novels or whatever their criteria are, or, more likely, dropped in favour of an actual list of the bestselling novels without further conditions: I assume some source can be found that documents such things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.49.162.77 (talkcontribs)
If someone can acquire the criteria that "Publishers Weekly" us, or give reference, that should be sufficient. Any "bestsellers" list should quote where the figures or reference comes from. Does anyone know of other authoritative bestseller references. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 07:22, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Here's a quote from the PW itself[1]: "AAP [Assoc of American Publishers] excludes Potter because of the way it measures industry sales. The organization takes actual sales from 81 reporting companies (including Potter publisher Scholastic) and then uses Census Bureau data to extrapolate sales for the entire industry. In the past, the inclusion of Potter has distorted growth (and, in non-Potter years, the decline) of the children's category." Her Pegship (tis herself) 19:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
If that's the case, then why are (only) two HP books listed?

Criteria for inclusion edit

Here's a link to PW's "call for information" which solicits sales figures from publishers for PW's annual bestseller lists. I'll be tracking down March 24 as soon as it appears. HTH, Her Pegship (tis herself) 21:51, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
