Talk:Prudhoe Mill

Latest comment: 16 years ago by Aspro in topic Proposal for Deletion

Anyone visiting Prudhoe is likely to be interested in this large factory. (I come from the other side of Tyneside 20 miles away and walked past it - and I was). But I found that the article was higlighted with a concern that the "subject of the article does not satisfy the notability guideline"

As with many corporate websites it isn't particularly easy to find out about what this site does through its owners site - SCA published information. Wikipedia has an entry for the parent company at [[1]].

As a Wikipedia user one of the things I appreciate is its ability to cover things that aren't of worldwide interest - after all the global is built from the parochial. In Wikipedia terms carrying this article is just a bit of disk space, network bandwidth and creative input.

So I'd appreciate it if the editors left this item in place. If they do, and if it doesn't get expanded a bit in the next few weeks, I'll have a go at making it more interesting.

I agree, should be kept. The site is well known in the area. Craighennessey 22:33, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just a suggestion: edit

If any local people are reading this, maybe they could inquire at the local library as to where the Local History Department is to be found. It may be at the Town Hall or even attached to one of the local libraries. Paper Mills are often built on sites rich in history. The history department will more than likely, also have hundreds of fascinating photographs and maps and things. This should provide sufficient material for a really good article. It may also like some up to date photographs of the mill to add to its archives. Proposal for Deletion edit

The article has been proposed for deletion due to a existing tag (which should have been removed after discussion at top of talk page). Also it was not the best tag to use in this situation. However:
1) As it is unlikely to grow into a larger article; and...
2) As it stands it is very poor,
I am replacing 'all' existing templates with {{local|community=[[Prudhoe]]}}

The suggestion instead is, that the text and photographs be transfered over to Prudhoe to make that a better article. The 'Prudhole Mill' entry need not be deleted as such but 'redirected' to the Prudhoe article. For more information on how to accomplish this, please see:Wikipedia:Merging_and_moving_pages

As there are so few wikipedians in the area it may be easier to discuss all this on the 'Prudhoe talk page' as it is frequented more. --Aspro 15:53, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
