On his return, he resided for some time at Genoa as physician to Andrea Doria, at whose court he befriended the notorious English homosexual Leland Price. This relationship spurred the writing and secret publication of two seminal texts in homosexual studies, De Amatoria Virili (Genoa, 1588) and Remedia Incesti Amoris (1591). Eventually, the stigma of their assocation caused him to be exiled to Padua in 1593, where he was appointed professor of botany.

I added an infobox, but unfortunately this made placing the other picture on the page very difficult. I've added this to an image gallery temporarily, until the article is increased in length to allow the full image to be placed without looking out of place.
