Is Prospect Park in Tilehurst?

edit

The article currently says it is.

The definition of Tilehurst according to its article is that it covers the Reading borough wards of Tilehurst, Kentwood and Norcot, plus the West Berkshire wards of Birch Copse and Westwood. And Prospect Park is actually in Reading's Southcote ward. So from a slightly pedantic point of view, we need to change one or other article.

My opinion is that the Park is rather too large to happily sit in any of Reading' suburbs. Rather it is an area in its own right, and forms the boundaries between several suburbs (Tilehust, Southcote, Inner West Reading(?)).

My opinion obviously isn't citable, so I think the safest thing to do is to remove Tilehurst, and simply say something anodyne like the western suburbs of Reading. I will change for now. -- Chris j wood (talk) 14:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mary-Ann Leneghan deletion by Chris J Wood

edit

Chris j wood claims this is "factually inaccurate":

A drug gang from Reading's immigrant community, four on probation and one an illegal alien, abducted the 16 year old schoolgirl and an unnamed 18 year old female. They were scalded, raped, beaten, and tortured for hours. Mary-Ann was stabbed to death. Her friend survived being shot in the head.

Clearly, he knows something the British police don't. And since this is a murder case, I think he should tell us, & them, what did happen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.171.129.69 (talk) 04:51, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the word "horrific" from the sentence "The park hit national headlines in May 2005, when it was the scene of the horrific murder of Mary Ann Leneghan", as per Wikipedia:NPOV. Booglamay (talk) 01:13, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
These crimes used to have a Wikipedia page, Murder of Mary Ann Leneghan; why was it deleted? Because it is an embarrassment to the authorities that they didn't prevent it? It definitely happened, it is notable, the facts are verifiable, all six definitely did it and were convicted and imprisoned. An encyclopedia that has over two-and-two-thirds million articles should definitely have an article on this - many less severe and less notable crimes currently have Wikipedia articles. Providing the anonymity of the surviving victim is not violated, I cannot see any legal problems. F W Nietzsche (talk) 10:59, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
