Uh, what about the Canadian Football League? Shouldn't this be at American professional football etc, then? Adam Bishop 23:42, 4 Jan 2004 (UTC)

American Football and Canadian Football are 2 different sports. Standleylake40 (talk) 02:10, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Professional American football championship games

"CHAMPIONSHIP" is misspelled in the title (the "N" is left out). How does a user correct a TITLE?

Spurious claims?

edit

The article currently states: Since there were only four seasons (1966 - 1969) which ended with games between the champions of two different leagues, there have been only four true world championships of professional football. Claims by the NFL or other leagues that their champions were world champions in other years are spurious.

But since all the AFL teams were taken into the NFL beginning with the 1970 season, all of the teams which had previously been competing for the world championship during 1966-69 continued to compete for the Super Bowl in later years. In other words, if the winner of Super Bowl IV was a true world champion having been the champion of the NFL and AFL combined, then the winner of Super Bowl V was also, since the exact same pool of teams competed for the Super Bowl championship in both years. The exact structure of the league should not matter. --Metropolitan90 17:16, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

NFL champs from 1970 to present shouldn't be called World Champs, the NFL wrongfully declares their champion World Champions. Standleylake40 (talk) 02:10, 4 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Since no respected athlete would compete in the IFAF World Cup, it's safe to call the NFL Championship a World Championship.Mustang6172 (talk) 04:42, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
