[Untitled] edit

The information I have posted on The Priory of St Andrews of the Ards was compiled by me as part of research for a Historical Society of which I am chairman. I have copied the text from the website for use on Wiki.

cleanup & further work needed edit

I have cleaned up the article adding the infobox, map, categories & multiple refs - therefore I have removed the cleanup tags of various sorts. I feel the article still needs further work on the text and clarification of the significance of some of the dates and the "Ards" part of the name etc. I would also propose moving the article to Priory of St. Andrews of the Ards or similar, as people are very unlikely to search for its current title - the Peninsula could be anywhere & I can't understand why "abbeys" is plural. Any help comments or further editing would be appreciated.— Rod talk 16:02, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Requested move edit

I don't think the title of this article is self explanatory or would be what anyone would search for - the Peninsula could be anywhere & I can't understand why "abbeys" is plural. I think it could be moved to Priory of St. Andrews of the Ards or similar.— Rod talk 17:48, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Possibe re-write needed edit

This article indicates that the Priory of St. Andsrews of the Ards is located in Stogursey, Somerset and most of the information contained therein relates to Stogursey.

However, the Benedictine Priory of St. Andrews of the Ards (aka Blackabbey) was actually located in County Down, Northern Ireland between Greyabbey and Ballyhalbert. Stogursey was the Mother-House to the Priory. Therefore this article may need to be split into 2 seperate articles. I would be happy to supply information to assist with this article.

Article Split - see Stogursey Priory edit

As the existing article wrongly merged two separate sites and priories (see above), I have detached the Redirect Page Stogursey Priory from its redirective function towards the present page, and have used it to build an article on Stogursey Priory based on material formerly in the present article. I have retained a little of the same material in the present page, but removed most of what applied to Stogursey rather than to the Ards. I have introduced one or two references anew (and updated others) in both articles so that they stand on their own, but have interlinked them a bit as well. Fresh work on both articles would be very desirable, and some sources will be found in the new references. Additional categories for the present page would also be useful. Possibly the present page could be better-named. Eebahgum (talk) 00:59, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
