Talk:Preflight checklist

This page is weird edit

Starting with the section "Preflight Information Checklist", the "article" reads more like notes in someone's journal, rather than an encyclopedic article on a public website. I will try to check back in a month and remove the superfluous lists.

Well, it is four years later and it is still weird. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:13, 27 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Recent deletion of material edit

Recently I replaced detailed howto-type of material with a referenced, short summary of the types of items that may be found on a preflight checklist. Ahunt deleted the entire section, claiming that it was still howto material. I dispute this: the section was written in summary style; if you have ever worked through a pilot checklist before taking flight, you know that a short summary list like this is a long, long way from being a full detailed checklist of items or set of methods. For example, mentioning checking weight and balance does not provide any guidance on how to do so. Hence, I would like to restore the summary in this section. The mnemonics were interesting and are in common practice, but they could go if the consensus is that this is too much detail. Per WP:BRD, here we are. --Mark viking (talk) 18:31, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have been a pilot since 1976, flown 35 types of aircraft, so I am familiar with the contents of checklists. The intro part was general enough, but the specific checklists don't belong here. You find those in ground school training manuals. - Ahunt (talk) 18:54, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
