The problem is there is no article about Pre-Romanesque Architecture in Medieval Architecture there are only parts which say about Gothic and Romanesque Architecture. Pre-Romanesque Art is much more modest than Gothic and Romanesque. So we can (without any error) Architecture as a part of Art and write about it here as long as we not have anybody which knowledge will allow to write another article. --195.136.151.181 07:39, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Generally, yes (although there can be overlap with sculpture, since its considered art, but can also be mounted on architecture). "See also's" are OK as well. It's slightly ambiguous, no need to be too ridged - so long as the main material is in separate articles and they link to each other. -- Stbalbach 13:50, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Dates all up the creek

These dates are all over the place. This article says the Romanesque period begins in the C12, but Romanesque, along with every book on the subject I have ever seen, not to mention the newly renovated Romanesque architecture puts the start of Romanesque proper much earlier:

" Romanesque art refers to the art of Western Europe from approximately 1000 AD to the rise of the Gothic style..."

" Romanesque architecture is the term that is used to describe the architecture of Europe which emerged in the late 10th century and evolved into the Gothic style during the 12th century..."

There are similar contradictions with the main articles for Ottonian art and Carolingian art, & in all cases I think here is wrong, or least right. Johnbod 02:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Also, checking around has confirmed my suspicion that the term should only be applied to architecture and monumental sculpture. Nobody writes about PR illuminated manuscripts and metal work. Johnbod 23:09, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I've made some changes re both both points since I commented above. If it stays as a short link-junction I suppose the titles ok, although we do have rather a lot of overlapping survey articles on early medieval art. Johnbod 13:38, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

It seems that most articles relatied to medieval architecture are either in the process of revision/expansion or in need of revision/expansion. Either way, their are structural issues to be sorted out that I brought up at Talk:Romanesque architecture, regional characteristics. The structure of Wikipedia should be logical, because a poorly nagivable website is (almost) as bad as factually inaccurate one. Srnec 00:42, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes - the ones on art are if anything worse, and mostly fall into the second group. I think Amanda has done a great job there, & we should see the finished product & then decide how to arrange the whole subject area. Johnbod 02:09, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
