bluestockings? edit

Paragraph 4:

In the Fronde, the bluestockings tended to be aligned with the superintendent of finances, Nicolas Fouquet, drawing the satire and ire of the aubignaciens, of the Cardinal de Retz's party.[1]

This is similar sort of to the next 2 posts.

What is the relationship between bluestockings and Les Précieuses? And BTW why is the 'Les' omitted from the title? Yes a reference to a Wikipedia page on bluestockings is supplied but there should be some context provided in this article. Not everybody is familiar with the term 'bluestocking'.

But WTF is it? edit

I came to this article to try and find out what Précieuses means, but having read it I'm none the wiser. The article is written for people who already know what it's about. The only helpful phrase to the rest of us is "lively conversations and playful word games." How about some examples, with translation/explanation?

At first, I've came to the same conclusion. But then I've just realized that the idea of this article is fairly to be written as a précieuses style article LOL — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.19.232.197 (talk) 13:21, 17 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ladies vs. Women? edit

This page refers to the members of the movement as ladies, which I believe is the wrong term to refer to these important historical authors; it just seems a bit 'off' / maybe a bit sexist. Thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.222.132.214 (talk) 21:37, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes! I totally agree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.3.7 (talk) 21:43, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

The article starts with an incomplete sentence edit

user:DayakSibiriak, since your edit of 00:56 19 April 2023, the opening words have been The 17th-century French literary style and movement called préciosité.

This is not a sentence. It's as if the article cat began with "A cat."

I could put everything back the way it was, but I'd like to be sensitive to whatever it was you were trying to do. Therefore I need to ask you what it was you were trying to do. What were you trying to do?  Card Zero  (talk) 08:14, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Card_Zero. Now, I see too. DayakSibiriak (talk) 00:11, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
