Galataport mege discussion
editAn article has been created for Galataport which is a proposed Cruise complex within the Port of Istanbul. It would be much more appropriate to host the information in this article as an enlarged section and if, and only if, it becomes too large and individually notable, then move it to its own article location. Thoughts ? Fob.schools (talk) 17:30, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- If Galataport were simply a cruise terminal, that argument might hold, but this isn't the case: the current redevelopment is turning it into more of a retail/leisure/office complex, rendering the maritime function almost an add-on - think, say, of Hudson Yards or London Docklands, albeit on a smaller scale.
- As for notability, the sources cited (all RS) in that article should comfortably establish that. The one thing IMO that you might argue as a reason for not having a separate article on this is maybe WP:CRYSTALBALL, but seeing as it's a multi-year, nearly $2bn project approx. two months from completion, I think it's safe to assume it is going to happen.
- Given all that, I fail to see why it should be covered within Port of Istanbul, or for that matter why it doesn't warrant an article of its own. --DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:58, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Given that this seems to be future gazing to a large extent, I would disagree almost entirely. The development has probably started, it has not been completed on time and who knows whether it ever will. It seems obvious to me. Fob.schools (talk) 19:06, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Unfortunately Port of Istanbul and Galataport are not the same thing. Port of Istanbul is the freight/cargo terminal at Haydarpaşa (https://www.shiphub.co/port-of-istanbul/) while Galataport is the cruise terminal at Karaköy. The current Port of Istanbul entry needs to be completely rewritten - the picture currently being used is of the Galataport, not the Port of Istanbul in Haydarpaşa. - Since this is clearly not the same thing, I'm taking the liberty to remove the banner at the rop of the page.Keizers (talk) 14:07, 29 July 2022 (UTC).
- And since it's clearly not the same thing - and Galataport now has a proper page of its own - I'm going to rewrite this to explain that this is a page about the container port on Asian side of the city. Anything relevant to Galataport that is not already included in that page I will copy over accordingly. Ealinggirl1954 (talk) 19:53, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
