We just bought a traveling trunk that says "Warranteed Best Steel Japanned Traveling Trunk" on a label on the inside. The trunk is relatively light weight and looks like faux wood paneling on the outside, and is a racing green enamel color on the inside. Does anyone know when these type of trunks were popular? I am guessing from the fonts anytime between 1940's-1960's, but I can't find anything about them online except that "Japanned" metals were popular to reproduce in England. ----
