Polysiphonia foetidissima is now referred to as Vertebrata foetidissima (Cocks ex Bornet) Diaz-Tipia & Maggs. See Algaebase. This requires a "move" - I will be grateful if you would arrange this for me, far too complex for a simpleton like me!
Further how do I refer to Algaebase in a file, how should I do it? Algaebase will not refer to a certain species! Osborne 17:39, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Algaebase says the two names are currently considered synonymous. There's no need to use the other name in preference to this one, as far as I can tell. Huon (talk) 18:00, 13 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
As I read it Algaebase notes: "Current name (if different) Vertebratat foetidissma (Cocks ex Bornet) Diaz-Tapis & Maggs". I therefore suggest the name should be changes to "Vertebrata foetidissima"Osborne 19:15, 16 August 2017 (UTC)Osborne 18:45, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
And as I currently read it, "[Polysiphonia foetidissima] is currently regarded as a synonym of Vertebrata foetidissima (Cocks ex Bornet) Díaz-Tapia & Maggs". Vertebrata foetidissima currently redirects to this article, so people searching for that term will not be confused. I'll add the synonym to the lead paragraph, though.
