Using the terms degree, power

I'm not a native English speaker and unsure about this. But I think the terms degree and power are used as follows…

  • x has degree y; x is of degree y
  • x is raised to the power of y

…while the article mixes both formulations:

  • variables raised to different degrees

A good question, even if not directly related to this article. To write the expansion in a clear form we have to use more structured set than just   as index sets. Let   and   be finite sets, and let   be the set of all functions  . Then
