Cleanup tags edit

@Fiachra10003: I noticed that you added several cleanup tags to this article, but I don't see any explanation about them. How is the {{NPOV}} tag relevant to this article? Jarble (talk) 16:34, 15 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Most of the article lacks sources, is littered with WP:PEACOCK phrases, and is written from a subjective viewpoint that many people of Mexican descent might consider offensive even if they agreed with the fundamental premise. For instance, the "Historical" explanation of sources of corruption refers back to the preceding para which is entirely unsourced. "where the Mexican society organized itself into a pyramid-like hierarchy with the rich and powerful at the top" - what's the basis for this statement, which appears to ignore everything that's happened since the rise to power of the PRI? "People follow an "I scratch your back, you scratch mine" philosophy where they expect to receive certain benefits in return for bribes or favors." is unsourced, subjective, and lacks specificity as to which "people" are referred to. "Many Mexican citizens do not feel safe" - which citizens? Who says so? What about the ones who do feel safe, rightly or wrongly? "The Mexican police are notorious... " among whom? Says who?
I could go on and on. I'm not suggesting that there's not a problem - the point is that this article lacks the characteristics of WP:Verifiability, WP:Neutrality, and objectivity that makes for a good article. Fiachra10003 (talk) 01:05, 18 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Fiachra, and wills strike all subjective parts of the article - 2 years is far too long for nothing to be done. Eralam (talk) 14:24, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Willingness of the population / Attitude about the practice edit

I'm an expat in Mexico. I've been here over 5 years and have some very good friends that are born and raised here. The truth is that while the system has a lot of negatives there are also positives. The people here would much rather pay a few pesos and be on their way instead of having to deal with the court system, especially if its just a speeding ticket or something. Most of these cops are this way because its part of the culture, but another reason is because they are paid insanely low wages. I feel like this side of the story at least deserves to be presented in this article.
