I've done no active research, but from reading major newspapers etc., over period of years, reasonable impression is that company (like all such concerns) has controversial environmental record.

This isn't reflected in current article.

Article seems increasinly outdated with respect to references, some of which are as of 6/25/11, unavailable. Might wish that dumb bots of administrators' could pick up on this.

Plum Creek is among the largest private landowners in the United States.

As of December 31, 2014, the company owned and managed 6.6 million acres of timberlands in the northwest, northeast and southern U.S. as well as owned and operated five* wood product conversion facilities in the northwest U.S.

Thank you for facilitating the most recent factual updates. I am requesting one more update to the company's opening description.

Plum Creek Timber Company, Inc. is primarily a timberland owner and manager. It also manufactures wood products (page 6 of the 10K) and is engaged in real estate including development (page 6 of the 10K). The company leases a portion of its lands to operators for mineral extraction and construction materials (page 8 of the 10K). Plum Creek is among the largest private landowners in the United Sates. It is headquartered in Suite 3100 at 601 Union Street in Seattle.
