- Pleurotomariidae lives in depths of 2000-3000 m on the bottom. They live on bottom so they are benthos living in benthic zone. They live in bathyal zone which is generally in depths of 1000-4000 m. But they are not in bathypelagic, because bathypelagic means water column in depths of 1000-4000 m. --Snek01 (talk) 10:31, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
nacre? edit
The image does not clearly show a nacreous aperture. It might just be hard to see. Whatever the case, the image superficially seems to contradict the description. Craig Pemberton (talk) 05:44, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- With shells that have internal nacre, the mother-of-pearl can often be quite hard to see when the shell is viewed casually from the outside. Invertzoo (talk) 22:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- In this case the bright illumination from outside of the shell is causing the dominant visual effect to be one of transmitted light coming through the shell layers, not reflected light from the interior surface. Invertzoo (talk) 22:41, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
