Dates

edit

I need to find out:

  • when Merriweather's Market closed
  • when Pleasure Island Jazz Company opened
  • when XZFR Rockin' Rollerdrome opened (1989?) and closed
  • when Rock 'n' Roll Beach Club opened

I have contacted the WDW Library & Research Center for assistance on these. kurros 22:37, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation needed? And new article?

edit

There was a good-sized amusement park also called "Pleasure Island" but unaffiliated with Disney between 1959 and 1969 in Wakefield, MA. According to online sources it was at inception the largest man-made tourist attraction in New England.

I personally have wonderful memories of that park, and apparently I'm not the only one; there are a number of memorial websites still online. Perhaps some note about the Wakefield MA park should be added to the main entry?

Fair use rationale for Image:Pleasure island.jpg

edit

Image:Pleasure island.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Nightclubs to close permanently

edit

I'll let someone who follows this page more closely than I do add this in somewhere. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Disney is going to overhaul Pleasure Island and will be closing the nightclubs down permanently. Source: here --132 02:05, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

BET Soundstage Club & Trivia cleanup

edit

I want to try to cleanup the Trivia section as suggested, and I want to make sure I have the information listed correctly. The paragragh about BET Soundstage club indicates that it's operated by BET, but also mentions the contract that's due to expire. The trivia section mentions a licensing agreement. It's always been my understanding that Disney operates the club and has an agreement with BET to use the name. Can anyone confirm this? I'm at work right now, and I don't have access to my reference library. I can probably check later when I get home, but figured I'd give this a shot in the meantime. Thanks. I've been doing some further research, and I still can't find any complete information. From what I can tell, BET Holdings, Inc. (now a part of Viacom) built the club as part of its BET Soundstage brand. It had at least one restaurant at the time in Largo, MD, and was planning on building about 20 more over the course of five years. It appears that the additional locations were never built, and that the Largo location has since closed. I'm guessing that BET gave up on the brand and possibly let Disney continue to use the name (this is just a guess). Still looking for help. Apr1fool (talk) 03:53, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
