Players Championship

edit

So the tournament is renamed to Players Championship for the 2016/17 season. The problem is that we already have a Players Championship, which is considered a 2004 edition of Scottish Open, and mentioned so on most players' articles. What are we going to do about this? Comment The 2004 Players Championship was just a rebranding of the Scottish Open. This is explained at Chris Turner's Snooker Archive: "Normally the Scottish Open would have been the final event of the tour but as the final event would carry double points and decide the Order of Merit, it was decided to rename it the Players Championship." It still occupied the same slot on the calendar and was at the same location. As this article iteself points out, the new version of the "Players Tour Championship" is just a rebranding of the Players Tour Championship Grand Finals (see World Snooker). There is no continuity between the Scottish Open/Players Championship and the PTC Grand Final/Players Championship besides the branding. Betty Logan (talk) 12:22, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
