The result of the move request was: No consensus. While there were definitely good arguments in support of the move, it is Plano as day that there was no consensus on long-term significance. (non-admin closure) Red Slash 05:41, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

PlanoPlano (disambiguation)WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT WP:USPLACE. The primary topic is Plano, Texas. See WikiNav (clickthrough) and Massviews (page views). SilverLocust 💬 19:14, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notes

  1. ^ The article with the most pageviews that is linked from the disambiguation is The Secret History, but this novel isn't really relevant because it doesn't get clickthrough from the disambiguation and merely involves a fictional city in northern California called Plano.
  2. ^ In line with the WP:USPLACE naming convention, I am not requesting Plano, Texas be moved to Plano. The three cities in Texas with populations over 1,000,000 leave off the ", Texas", but #4-20 do not, nor do seemingly all the rest. Plano is #9.
  • Oppose Pageviews do indicate a primary topic, but I am unconvinced with longterm significance compared to Plano cultures, and there is a perfectly fine natural disambiguation for the name, so it appears to be a solution seeking an actual problem. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 05:54, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would suggest that Great Plains peoples of 8000–11000 years ago, whom archeologists call Plano cultures, is quite an obscure topic. It is the first link on the DAB, but gets 1/8 the clicks as the 10th link, and far fewer views. E.g., Britannica has an article for Plano, but not Plano cultures. • WikiNav says there were 127 identified visits to the proposed primary topic out of a total of 303 incoming views, which is ~42%, so that doesn't really indicate a primary topic by usage, because the overall traffic is pretty low and the interest in the proposed primary topic isn't really overwhelming. --Joy (talk) 12:40, 18 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak oppose per Zxcvbnm. Also note that US settlements also commonly include the state meaning people are more likely to use that when searching or linking. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:12, 20 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
