Headline text edit

Piplan has its Agricultral Market which is probably one of the best markets in the whole Sargodha Division. Kooh-e-Noor Mills, it is also commonly believed , was closed because of the abusive behaviour of the local public. Indus River, which has been lying in the west of Piplan, sometimes changes its routes and gets far off the site but even if it does not flow near its banks people always keep a threat in their minds that riven can come back any time and it has been proved so disastrous in the past. 203.128.22.116 18:12, 25 September 2006 (UTC)hassan akbar203.128.22.116 18:12, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Clean-up edit

I'm taking out the Cleanup template; not because i think i've done a superbe job on the article, but because whoever put it up didn't put anything on the talk page here, so it's hard to know just what they were thinking. I have done a bit of tweaking the sentences, trying to get the grammar a bit more regular, the style a little stronger, but i may easily have done damage to the facts in so doing; so correct if wrong! I would like to request all my town fellows that please don't write the names of unknown persons on this page, like Chacha gullu, chacha "Fulan" dukandar or Daya hotel wala, this is a page where you can write the names of prominent people of Piplan like sports personalities, businessmen, Professiors, doctors, engineers, overseas Pakistanies, Govt. Officers, Educationists, Singers, Politicians and real social workers. I receive so many calls and hear "who is chacha Gullu", I don't know myself that who is chacha Gullu ? Please be serious and don't use this page for jokes. thanks (Piplanwala). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.96.212.155 (talk) 21:11, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dear Piplanwala, I appreciate your concern, If some one has a name that according to you or the others "calling" you is hilarious is a concern that I would like to adress, first of all the guy whose name happens to be Chacha Gullu lives in Mustafa Abad section of the city, he carries the credit of feeding the needy and the poor for the past one and a half decade!!! You can go and check it out !! If you dont know him then it's your mistake not his & he is not playfully called Chacha Gulu but that's how he is known among those whom he has taken care of so far & hopefully he would in the future as well. So next time if some one calls you tell him the same . Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.2.166.168 (talk) 20:56, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of notables edit

There's no reason why there cannot be a list of notable/famous people from Piplan in this article. The one that has been added a few times, however, and removed by me, is both poorly formatted and unencyclopædic. The people added appear to have no notability other than being, perhaps, well-known and/or liked in Piplan. Take a look at other articles, Madison, Indiana, for example, for an idea of the kind of people that belong in such a list. Cheers, LindsayHi 05:12, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of Notables, my point of view edit

First of all any one who is notable in the city should be mentioned with it. You can not mention some one from outside under it's title neither can an outsider justify whether or not someone belongs here or not. So the list should be kept intact. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.2.166.168 (talk) 17:52, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, actually, the list of notables really ought to be in line with other WP articles; see my comment above for an idea of what to compare it to. A random list, such as was here, does not really belong in the encyclopædia. Cheers, LindsayHi 18:23, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
With all due respect Lindsay, Piplan is no match to Madison, Indiana, and on the top of that the people who belong to this city are neither Academy award winner/nominatee, nor entrepreneur, philanthropist but we have doctors, social workers, poets, writers rather good writers and as part of the wiki family I would hereby like to mention them as long as possible, you have the right to differ from what I am talking about but if you keep on deleting these people you ll have some very typical info. and very less to know about the city of Piplan and the inhabitants. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.2.166.168 (talk) 19:00, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I indented the previous comment for clarity
With all due respect, indeed, i'm not comparing Piplan and Madison, but suggesting that the latter's article is the kind of thing Piplan's could aim for. It (Piplan) is actually quite a good article right now, but the list of doctors, social workers, poets, writers rather good writers is not what WP is about, that's why i've taken it out, again.
If, after all, it has to stay in here, if these people are notable and worthy of mention in a world encyclopædia, then the list has to be formatted correctly. But, please, consider that this is not intended to be a list of everyone or everything of local interest or notability ~ after all, the local pizzaria or Wal-Mart isn't mentioned in the Madison article, though they are fine places of local importance!
