  •   I think we can relax the newness rules a bit in this case. Samdutton has relatively little recent experience editing, and hence may not be as familiar with our rules. Plus, at 61 verified hooks, our DYK backlog is quite small. feminist (talk) wear a mask, you stupid bastards 14:58, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  •   Despite this, I see that a lot of this article is unsourced. @Samdutton: note that DYK requires each paragraph to have at least one inline citation. Please ensure that everything in this article is sourced and verifiable. feminist (talk) wear a mask, you stupid bastards 15:01, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • The source of this content is the subject's son. Can I add a citation like that? ('Conversation with the artist's son, xx September 2019', or similar?) (talk)
  • @Samdutton: If you obtained the information by personally talking to the subject's son, unfortunately this would fall under original research, and any such content where the only source is the subject's son would have to be removed. You may have better luck if you can get him to publish an article covering what he told you, in which case it would likely be usable as a WP:PRIMARY source. feminist (talk) wear a mask, you stupid bastards 14:32, 5 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Feminist: OK — thanks for the heads-up. I'll ask the subject's son for citations (since the dates, etc., are actually taken from books about the subject rather than from memory). (talk)
  • @Samdutton: Great. Add the books as inline citations, and make sure that every paragraph is sourced. feminist (talk) | free Hong Kong 13:09, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Feminist: Added citations provided by the subject's son.
  • @Samdutton: Unfortunately some statements still lack citations, such as the last paragraph under the Life section which concerns his death, and the last sentence of the fourth paragraph. Ensure that every statement is sourced. feminist (talk) | free Thailand 11:41, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Feminist: OK — I'll go back to the subject's son and ask for details.
  • @Feminist: I've added citations.
  • Samdutton, you have to add a sig to your posts if you want your pings to work. (Use the four tildes to insert a valid sig when you make a post; later additions don't work for pings.) Feminist won't have seen any of your earlier pings, but I hope this will be seen and the review can continue. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:31, 12 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
  •   The article is long enough. It was nominated four days late but I will let this slide, as I explained above. The article presents a neutral overview of the subject's life; following the additions of inline citations, the article appears to be compliant with souring guidelines. Because this article exclusively relies on offline sources, I am WP:AGF with regards to possible close paraphrasing. There may be slight concerns with WP:QUOTEFARM in the "Influence" section, and the quotations may benefit from paraphrasing. However, this is not strictly disqualifying because QUOTEFARM states that there is no need for an arbitrary limit for legitimate and justified quotations.
  • The hook is mentioned in the article and may be regarded as an accurate summary of the prose. However, it is not backed up by a citation. Based on the article, I suggest the following hooks for other editors to review:
  • ALT1: ... that Polish painter Piotr Potworowski brought European influence to British painting in the 1950s? Source: Griffiths, Haydon (1975). Bath Academy of Art 1946-1955 (Thesis). University of London, Master’s Thesis.
  • ALT2: ... that Piotr Potworowski influenced creative thinking of British painters at the Bath Academy of Art? feminist (talk) | free Hong Kong 11:28, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
  •   Offline sources taken in good faith, especially considering the primary editor's familiarity. Alts 1 and 2 good, and I personally find Alt2 more interesting (more specific). Rest of review per feminist. Kingsif (talk) 10:57, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
