Name Change edit

Ceejayy9858 changed the name of the facility in the text of the article from Pinnawela to Pinnawala. However, if the name needs to be changed, the article should first be moved. I reverted Ceejayy9858 edits (among other things, the web site he/she added went to a URL sales site). However, having poked around the Web a bit, I think the article should be moved. The spelling I found varies from Pinnewala to Pinnawala to Pinnawela, but mostly it seems to be Pinnawala, and a photo of the entrance sign I found here says Pinnawala. Pinnawala is also the spelling used on the (Columbo Zoo web site) -- the zoo that currently manages this property. Don Lammers (talk) 02:02, 13 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree spelling of article should be changed to Pinnewala. Official website uses Pinnewala. I have changed all misspelling in the text. Article needs to be moved. Marcus334 (Talk) 07:20, 21 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I went through and corrected the remainder of "Pinnawela" to "Pinnawala" in the text. I did a check for "pin" and "pen" to find some other misspellings as well (there were none). A couple of misspellings are in URLs, and I did not change those. Don Lammers (talk) 13:53, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Elephants in chains edit

I’m horrified that the elephants are kept in chains and jabbed with sharp hooks. It’s shameful for them to claim they provide sanctuary. The males are forced to live with the herd instead of lead solitary lives as they do in the wild. It’s obvious the elephants are distressed and afraid because they shake their head from side to side. This place should be fined and shut down. It’s worse than a circus because they actually pretend they’re helping these wonderful intelligent animals. 2603:8080:E01:23A3:4096:6CE2:601B:DC33 (talk) 02:19, 26 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Exactly boycott and wrote to your local travel providers such as trip advisor and so on. Let the world know to stop funding animal cruelty. Write your feedback on Facebook and Twitter, where they advice as a sanctuary. 2001:8003:23DD:D200:B12D:F044:DD22:1E83 (talk) 05:33, 21 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
