Primary topic?

It doesn't seem at all clear to me that this Pierce Butler is the primary topic. Especially troublesome is the Supreme Court justice, who seems just about as well known, if not more so. john k (talk) 22:55, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I can see that recently, views of the Butler jurist have been higher than of Butler, Founding Father. Maybe you should put your suggestion at Pierce Butler (disambiguation) page. If it were to be changed, Pierce Butler (US politician) might be better, as there were numerous Anglo-Irish politicians in the UK by that name. Good luck. Parkwells (talk) 13:16, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Article needs expansion

He was about 40 when the Rev War was over and lived another 40 years, but the article has little to say about those years and needs to be expanded to that period: how he managed his plantations, amount of land and number of slaves he owned (latter is available from censuses), more about his legislative career.Parkwells (talk) 14:56, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

– This was suggested above several years ago, but it doesn't look like anyone ever started an RM. The massviews show that the Founding Father gets slightly fewer views than Pierce Butler (justice), making it difficult to believe that either is primary. Both are historical figures of roughly equal importance, so I also don't see a strong long-term significance argument either way. There are also several additional Pierce Butlers listed on the disambiguation page, although some are partial title matches. In sum, no article meets either of the WP:PTOPIC criteria for this title. I don't feel strongly about which disambiguator to use for the Founding Father: Pierce Butler (American politician) would be ideal, but it could be ambiguous depending on whether Pierce Mason Butler was commonly known as Pierce Butler. Pierce Butler (American politician, born 1744) is another option, as is Pierce Butler (Founding Father) (analogous to James Wilson (Founding Father)).
