Performance Discussion edit

Considering that the performance will increase over time with the advance of science; dates should be added to report performance milestone. We might consider changing the title to Performance History. I will improve this as time goes by and I welcome any help. Virtual Loïc (talk) 22:33, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Where did this all come from? edit

Failed to parse (unknown error): \begin{array}{ll} \mbox{Insolation} & 8.3\tfrac{\mbox{kW} \cdot \mbox{h}}{\mbox{m}^{2} \cdot \mbox{day}} = 8.3\tfrac{\mbox{1000 W} \cdot \mbox{h}}{\mbox{m}^{2} \cdot \mbox{24 h}} = \tfrac{8300}{24}\tfrac{\mbox{W} \cdot \mbox{h}}{\mbox{m}^{2} \cdot \mbox{h}} \approx 350\tfrac{\mbox{W}}{\mbox{m}^{2}} \\ \mbox{Efficiency of conversion} & 350\tfrac{\mbox{W}}{\mbox{m}^{2}} \times 20% = 70\tfrac{\mbox{W}}{\mbox{m}^{2}} \\ \mbox{Area of desert} & 9~000~000\ \mbox{km}^{2} = 9~000~000\ (\mbox{1000 m})^{2} = 9 \times 10^{12}~\mbox{m}^{2} \\ \mbox{Electrical power output} & 70\tfrac{\mbox{W}}{\mbox{m}^{2}} \times 9 \times 10^{12}\ \mbox{m}^{2} = 630 \times 10^{12}~\mbox{W} = 630~\mbox{TW} \end{array}

Merge with Systems and Applications edit

Have finally got around to foundinhg an article on systems. Need to merge pertinent parts of arrays into it the rest into the main PV article.--Oldboltonian (talk) 02:44, 10 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Delisted GA edit

This article is clearly not of GA quality, as it has no references, and so I have delisted it. Please add inline citations. Johnfos (talk) 02:15, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merger discussion edit

A merger discussion has been started regarding the organisation of Photovoltaics, Photovoltaic array, Solar panel, Photovoltaic module, Photovoltaic system and Solar cell. If you would like to contribute to this discussion please click here. GG (talk) 08:22, 25 July 2008 (UTC) The articles on Characteristics of Solar Photovoltaic cells and Solar Photovoltaic Modules should be under one heading, while the Photovotaic Arrays need more of Mechanical mounting, Tracking mechanism, Arrays layout, selection of Inverters should be part of Photovoltaic Power Systems. Questionable contents edit

No credible references have been added since the no reference template was added in 2007. The contents use seemingly excessive amount of cross-referencing to other wiki articles and flooded with commercial external links full of original research, ads and links to purchase stuff. The price figures edit

Ingolfson reverted my edit and changed the price figures to an interpretation that was subjective from a source despite a more objective data range was given. 8-10 vs 3-10 can not be objectively expressed as "latter is merely a third over former" without proper statistical distribution data given, therefore its better to just give the range. If he's issues, it should be addressed here. ParasiticToxin (talk) 21:29, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge? edit

We seem to have a lot of overlap here. Let's reduce this down to fewer articles. We need photovoltaic modules comprised of Solar cells which kind of pays all of this out for us. Vegaswikian (talk) 05:16, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose merge, use summary style. Photovoltaics should be the main article for many of the shorter articles relating to photovoltaics, and most of the content should come from the shorter articles, via WP:summary style. This is where the main article includes summaries of the shorter articles and has a link to them. So there will be some overlapping content but there is no problem with this, as it is the way we usually do things on WP. Johnfos (talk) 22:04, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Mild oppose: As per Beagel. But if the merge does take place, it would be "Photovoltaic array" into "Photovoltaics", not how the tags are currently placed, ("Photovoltaics" into "Photovoltaic array"). Rehman(+) 08:39, 25 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
