etymology
editthe description of the name says "name derives from a New Latin form of φοῖνιξ, the Greek word for 'date palm', probably referring to the Phoenicians who brought the palm with them in their travels or maybe from φοινός, 'red-coloured', referring to the colour of dates." This information is important to include but I think it makes it sound like this genus was named for Phonecians or for dates they carried. I think it would be more accurately stated if it we explain that the Phonecians were named after the date they carried (or the date was named for them). Im not confident which is which but the conjunction 'or' doesnt improve the sentence.Mmcknight4 05:11, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

editthe article said that only phoenix had pinnate leaves in the Coryphoideae sub family, this is not true, as Arenga also has pinnate leaves. I have updated the article to include this correctionTwcw88 (talk) 03:06, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Phoenix pusilla
editWhy is the Phoenix pusilla thumbnail a tree fern? Or is that a Cycad? In any case it's not Phoenix pusilla. --2604:2D80:A201:CA00:8937:F7E9:74EB:C4F7 (talk) 04:13, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
